My father in law gave me a mint 1971 Remington 1100. I doubt it has been fired in 25 years. I cleaned it and it shoots fine. I just started duck hunting this season and have used a friends auto thus far. I also have a mossberg 500 20g that i have used in the past, so i am used to a pump as well.
The issue is, the barrel on the 1100 is a21 inch barrel and to purchase a 26" barrel would be right under $300. I'm not sure if i would even want to subject the 1100 to the harsh conditions of duck hunting. My other option is to buy a new pump and not worry about beating up the Remington. Should i spend the 300 on a new barrel or a new gun?

If you decided to sell it cheap, let me know.

I have an 1100 from 1967, and it is retired unless I go skeeting. In much too good a shape to mess with it like that.
Duck hunting guns should be two things.... Reliable and a POS

That's the way I'm leaning. The Remington looks too clean and in great shape to beat up. I guess i shall pick up a cheap pump for duck hunting

I disagree. I duck hunt with my baretta. As long as I keep it well maintained the ware of duck season doesn't kill it.
