I have a few coos running around and I am not a hunter,so I will ask here if I should shoot them when I can? Is there a real reason to kill them or should I let them roam?

I would let them roam. not sure how much damage they can do. similar to a cat.

I would only shoot if they are getting in the barn or doing some property damage.

Possums and armadillos kill on sight.

What kind of property damage could one expect from raccoons?

Once one group of them moves in, the whole neighborhood starts going down.

On our property we try to keep them in check due to their love of turkey eggs. Other than that I see no harms in letting them roam.

Perfectly legal to shoot them in Texas if they're stealing your stuff. Really ought to or else they'll just keep stealing more and more, and bring their friends over to steal as well.

Possums carry disease that can get transmitted to horses. But mostly they are uglier and just sit there hissing at me.

Edit- and armadillos make that great thump sound when hit with a 22lr
