I've got a fence separating my property from next door, fence wasn't in great shape to start. They are building three condos on the lot bordering the fence. In the process there has been some damage done to the fence. I talked to the builder and they offered to tear down my fence and put up a new one with a 75/25 cost split (i pay 25% of cost). Is this a fair deal? commonly done when a fence is put up separating properties?

I'd take that deal for sure.

Totally take that deal. But YOU make the decision on the company to use and get an estimate in writing before you commit. Then after it's done, get a copy of the bill so he doesn't frick you.

Considering the alternative of having no fence between you and them id say go for it

if the fence is on your property I would say that 75/25 with you paying 25% is a good deal. If the existing fence will be part of the new condo development, I wouldn't do anything with the hope that the builder will need to put up a new fence to make the condos more appealing.

Seems like a good deal. Make sure the property lines are correct before you tear down the old fence. A neighbor across my street had the same problem. When he tore down the old fence the owner of the new house being built showed him that technicall he had a few more feet past the old fence. The new fence was built with the new property lines. Needless to say they do not get along.

He's probably going to put one up anyway, per his insurance. Let him pay the whole fricking thing.

either tell them to fix what they broke or take the deal and get a new fence.

I would at least say that you needed to approve the type of fence being constructed.
