Could the latest story of Saban being interested in coaching at Texas be a distraction? I'm sure Saban absolutely hates the story coming out this week, but I don't know that it has much effect on him for the game.

Here's a link to a Yahoo article posted today in case you have not heard the latest:

Sorry, nothing to see here except Sexton doing what Sexton does best; get more money for Saban from Bama. The more this story is exposed, the less likely it is that Saban will leave, but the deeper Bama will dig into their pockets to keep him. See how that works?

And no, it is not a distraction.

Saban has said before what motivates him is resurrecting down programs. I don't think he would try to resurrect a South Carolina, but down, fundamentally strong programs such as LSU, Alabama, and Texas would attract him. If his agent has made even a partially positive statement about the Univ of Texas job then I think he will go to Austin. He's not too old to do that; he's got a great deal of energy and vitality.

I agree with the idea of using it to get a raise at Bama.

My question is more around the idea that pressure at a school, once he rebuilds it, seems to make Saban more uncomfortable. Didn't he say basically the same thing about LSU after winning the NC? LSU fans have become to unrealistic and he didn't want the added PRESSURE?

I doubt Bama could match what UT will throw at him. Football is football, but $$$ talks.

If it impacts the team he coaches and distracts them, then all the better.

Sadly, nothing to see here folks. He ain't going nowhere. Bama has more than enough $ to keep up with Texas. Don't kid yourself. Besides, I'd rather we focus on beating them this Saturday.

Don't underestimate the power of stupidity. If that was too happen (extremely unlikely), I'd bet the gumps would still build another statue for him.

I'd like to see him go to Auburn or Tennessee personally.

Have my fellow lsu fans learned anything about Saban. I think if any fanbase can vouch on Saban's history, it's lsu fans .. There has been soo much chatter up here about Saban leaving for Texas even the gump media spin machine is reporting it . Texas would have to go full-tard ($20Mil or so) for Bama not to match.

Snow, bama has more money than Texas ? I think not . Texas could pay Saban 10 mil a year out of their milk money drawer

He'll get it from the gumps or someone else. If he wins a 3rd in a row, it will be hard to argue that he isn't worth it.

This drivel is only a distraction to LSU fans. No one else is taking this nonsense seriously. If Saban wanted more money he would just walk into the AD and President's office and say I want some more money.

gumps will lash out at him, and throw him under the bus. i think as LSU fans, we would love to see this happen. gumps program would be in the tank again within 2 years.
