I think all Pelicans fans would agree that Jason smith is at best a role player in the NBA. With that being said, I do not see how Dell Demps went through this whole off season and did not address the center position at all. Forget the Tyreke and Jrue "bad contract" discussions for now....I just wanna know: did Dell think we were really gonna be fine in the front court? All i can figure is he believes Davis will evolve into a center, but i am skeptical looking at his body frame. Worst case scenario, we could have gotten a veteran with a good/expiring contract. When Houston comes to town, it will be hard to watch if we cant find an answer at center.

I think the theory is that with this lineup and the style of ball they intend to play, all you need is a serviceable center. May or may not work, but center is not what's losing these games.

So he can defend the corner 3?

As long as Houston is winning Asik won't be moved for Anderson. Just started the half on a 14-2 run with both big guys in the game.

Haven't watched the Rockets play but it seems to me that Harden would be less effective with Asik and Howard in the game at the same time.

Is there any way a major hurricane could take out the Toyota Center in November? With a packed house, even?

They're playing 15 minutes/game together right now. Last year Houston was top 5 or 6 Defensively with Asik on the court and second to last when he was off the court. The difference between Asik and Greg Smtih defensively is bigger than the difference between Anderson and Garcia/Casspi. Lots of guys can hit open 3s.

Thanks but no thanks. Stiemsma's putrid offense is enough for the center position, don't feel like watching Asik attempt it as well

That only makes sense to me if you think there is a realistic shot that your 2-4 best players are going to be Reke/Gordon/Holliday on a contender. That's what you're paying them, and they are all under contract for too long and too much money to move for equal player value.
