Really excited. I really doubt they've really shown us Smaug's face, since we haven't seen it since the Teaser. I'm thinking that was one of the original concepts and they just put it there. Either way, it better be the best dragon ever put to film.

The overall looks of the Hobbit seemed to take a step back from LOTR in general. Too much cgi, the orcs looked worse. Especially Azog, he looked terrible.

Azog was supposed to be live action until like 4 months before the film's release. They just didn't think he was intimidating enough, and they needed to make him even worse, so they made him digital. They succeeded with Gollum, so I don't really have that much a problem with it. I questioned if he was real or not when watching it, and had my suspicions confirmed afterwards.

I cannot wait for this one. Could be one of my favorites in the series.

The Extended edition of An Unexpected Journey came out today for those who didn't know.

I was pretty skeptical of the Hobbit for awhile, just assuming they couldn't capture that same magic and wonder I had first watching LOTR. While it wasn't as amazing as first watching those (I don't think it could be unless released beforehand), but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Really looking forward to the following

I disagree. Golem looked way better. And I thought Azog looked badass. He almost looked real.

There is so much to capture in this second movie. Also there will be so many new interesting characters that weren't in the first. Include the appendices and this has the making to be epic. I think it will exceed expectations since the first wasn't everyone's favorite.

I'm really not going to care about the T-Meter on this since I think a number of douchebag critics will critique the 48 fps over the movie itself, a format I'm not likely to see it in.

Luke Evans' character looks cool. Really liked him in immortals.

Didn't realize he was different. But either way, I had no complaints with Gollum. That was one of the two creepiest scenes in the book and they did it really, really well.

I've watched it three times now I think. He gets worse every time. The orcs too. The scene right before they go in the tunnel, when orcs are chasing them on the hounds?/wolves?/half breeds, they looked really really bad.

In all three LOTR, almost Orc scene was awesome. They were also intimidating. Outside of Azog, none of them looked very good.

All that being said, I enjoyed the first. But without even seeing the second I know I won't enjoy it as much. There was no reason for Legolas to be mentioned in the book, timeline wise, yet we are getting a Legolas love story. The main gripe is that they all pitched these as the most true to the books of all of em. Give me a break. Peter Jackson is basically saying yeah I don't care about the books and I can make a better story.
