I'm starting today

My exam is scheduled for February 28th 2014, I've got Yaeger CPA and I couldn't be more excited.

How long did you study for REG? I want to get REG, AUD, and BEC done in Jan/Feb and then just take FAR in April

A couple of things...

1) Don't be excited. It will especially tough if you are working and studying at the same time. You will be at an all-time low after leaving the exam but you will pass if you prepared properly.

2) Why on earth are you studying for so long? I studied for 5 weeks and I thought that was almost too much time.

Was Becker too expensive or unavailable? I had great success with it but I do understand that it costs a lot.

Becker costs around 4.5k. Yaeger cost me 369 dollars and 100 dollars a month for constantly updated products.

I work around 50 to 60 hours a week. I also want to score over a 90.

Is there a reason? Just curious

I want to score over a 90 for myself. I had a lot of anxiety issues that plagued my college career, and I have a chip on my shoulder. I went from getting a couple full scholarship offers to basically being kicked to the curb. I want to get back on top.

I scored all over the boards when I sat for it... I'd say don't stress about trying to get a high score for the sake of pride. Be more efficient. Study enough to land in the low 80's so you have a good margin of safety but otherwise, be more efficient with you time rather than studying. Focus on work or your personal life. If you get a 75 on all 4 parts, you are still a CPA. Spend that extra time working on your game at the office or on other life matters... just my 2 cents.

I've enjoyed it so far. It is actual video lectures and they use the Wiley Plus books with the test bank they have. The only irritating thing is going to be shelling out the extra 50 dollars for the Wiley Test FAR app for my Nexus 10, but I've been very pleased so far. I'm only a couple of days in, but I'll update on a semi-regular basis.

Did you pick it because of budgetary reasons or it's better for your learning style?

That really is a waste of time. Study enough to pass and if you happen to make a 90, then great. No one except the state board will see your CPA test scores. Employers only care that you passed all four, the scores you receive on each are irrelevant.

A little bit of both. I watched a sample of it, and then I called that number thinking "surely it can't be the same guy" and it was. That really impressed me. I've also heard a lot of bad things about Becker, and how it's mostly classrooms where a guy turns on a projector. I watch a lecture at night and take notes, and then I'll review those notes during my breaks at work, and anything that can go into notecard form gets slapped into my Ankidroid.

From what I've read it looks like yaeger does a better job of teaching

I think Becker is just more structured. If you just do everything they say you will pass. The other ones probably require a little more effort on your part. It also helps when you firm will pay for Becker because it is $$$.

I can only comment on what I've seen so far, but it's obvious the instructors know their stuff. They will even voice when they think the Wiley book said something incorrect.

Good for you if you want to do this and best of luck to you, but it is a complete waste of time. It is not going to help you in any way shape, form or fashion in your career if you score over a 90 and just sets you up for disappointment when you score a 78 and pass the exam.

This is coming from someone who busted their arse studying for each section and passed all 4 of them on the first attempt.
