First, what is a reasonable weekly grocery budget? I know food costs are skyrocketing but wife does zero to help. If its pre packaged or sliced she's buying it. Don't even know what a reasonable budget should be with her dumb purchases.

Give me some tips. I'd gladly go myself but this is her responsibility. Im not willing to cave yet. She doesn't work and should be better than me at it.

How disciplined do you want to be? My wife makes a menu for 4-5 weeks every month. We do a bulk shop at Sam's, a bulk shop at Wally World, and weekly produce at Rouse's.

Why don't you go once and establish your baseline? How are we supposed to know what you typically eat?

I spend about $400 a month for 2 people. Cook 4-5 times a week and might go out once a week.

We spend about $450/month + nick-nack produce here & there.

Also, my wife is a 2nd year resident; hence all the short/long on there. She does the grocery planning, shopping, and 95% of the cooking. All on top of working hellacious hours.
Sorry to sound like a dick; even though it sounds like you're fed up, but your wife really needs to step up. Especially, if she doesn't work. You should be getting home cooked meals and hand jobs every night.

I handle it all myself. I do the cooking so it's just easier for me to go to the store to make sure I have what I need for the week.

We're at $160 per week, but that's paper goods, cleaning supplies, etc., plus grocery, out the door. We may roll back to $140 per week because it is down to the 2 of us for the next 6 months.

However, the adult children and their SOs eat with us 2 to 3 times per week.

This does not include our eat out/take out budget (although it should).

1)Make a list before you go & only get what is on that list.

2) Make a list of what food you are throwing out because it goes bad, then buy less of that product.

I now do all of the grocery shopping, realized if I do the shopping I save money & get to eat what I want.

Million Dollar Spaghetti

I don't think my wife uses butter, she probably uses low fat/fat free cottage cheese, 1/3 fat cream cheese & sour cream, and part skim grated cheese. Knowing her she subs for 98% fat free turkey meat too.

Gumbo casserole too. What's in that?

PS. Yes, how well I know her weight is not being pulled.

We spend 800-850 per month, wife and two boys 11 and 8. This includes other walmart stuff like dish detergent, paper towels etc.

I would hate to be married to your wife. A fricking dinner schedule a month in advance?

No thank you

No shite. That is the best part about doing the cooking, you always eat what you want. I don't even ask her anymore. Keep the kid and house clean, I will take care of the rest.

I grew up with something similar. Inevitably it changed but it was a good tool to figure out what was needed for shopping trips as it wasn't always the same person going to the store.

I would love to have someone plan and prepare my meals

For 2 people, $100 at the grocery store/week should be plenty enough unless you are making gourmet meals. (I'm talking 4 courses/night)
