Our overall record there is 9-6.

BDS opened in 1929, and we only played there three times between then and 1988, when the series shifted from its then-home at Legion Field in Birmingham.

Since that 1988 game at BDS, we are 8-4 there. The four losses were in 90, 95, 99 and 09, and what's interesting about those four losses is that all but one of those games were extremely competitive, the lone blowout being a 24-3 loss in 1990, Mike Archer's last season. We even famously beat them there in 1993, ending their 31 game unbeaten streak during our 5-6 campaign that included a 58-3 loss to Florida and ended in a blowout loss to Arkansas.

I know there have been other threads about the home team in this series, but I wanted to get more specific as so much of our series has been played away from Tuscaloosa. Along with all the games at Legion Field in the 60s, 70s and 80s, there have also been several games in Montgomery and Mobile. After BDS opened in 1929, we played Alabama 14 times in Birmingham, Mobile and Montgomery, going 4-10-1 in those games (yikes!).

How much money did this guy

have to pay to get their stadium named after him? Also what is his connection to the university?

Let's just say that he has certain "otherworldly" connections that only Ron Howard knows about (and maybe Hume Cronyn). Also, he's going to need a good supply of body bags.

The game is at BDS this year, genius. Geez--you guys can't let anyone else in the conference enjoy any success.

So out of those 9 wins how many were night wins?

Because I saw a thread earlier on the SECrant boasting that LSU has never lost a night game in Tuscaloosa.

If that stat is less than 5 games I'm going to laugh heartily.

LSU is 5-0-1 in night games against Alabama in the state of Alabama. I believe 2 of those 6 were in BDS ('03, '11).

Alright so I'm not going to laugh heartily, I'm just going to smirk casually.

Still, the night game argument is silly in general. Didn't Les have like a 2 loss record in night games at Death Valley or something before last year?

Yea, I wasn't really involved in all that, just relaying the info.

Still gives some hope...

Stats are stats. They're all lies but they're still stats.

LSU's success at night in bds and against Bama in general is not a stat. It's an intangible that counters the stats used to explain why Bama is going to win big.

In the old days Bryant-Denny was not that large. The big games were played at Birmingham. Some of the victories against Alabama were in Alabama. Charlie Mac, Stovall, Arnsparger, and Hallman all won in Alabama. DiNardo would have won in Alabama if not for Booty trying to be a hero.

The original poster had to research what LSU's record was at Bryant-Denny because no Bama publication or fan would ever mention that LSU has a winning record in Bama's home stadium (you can't even google it and find a quick answer). He had to look at the whole series. The good news for Bama is that I think Wikipedia made an error on the 1951 loss for Bama. I think it was in Mobile based on other sources (though I wasn't around at that time). So I think LSU is winning the series 8-6. What I'm trying to say is that if Bama wins this year at Bryant-Denny Stadium, LSU will still OWN that B*TCH!

Highlights:

-Ending the 31-game unbeaten streak by losing to Curley Hallman. The equivalent to losing to Forrest Gump on Jeopardy.

-Getting shut out 27-0 by Gerry DiNardo - the worst loss in Bryant Denny Stadium History...it may still be.

-Giving up 611 total yards in 2001, the most ever allowed by an Alabama defense at Bama. Rohan Davey's 35 completions and 528 passing yards were also the most ever allowed by Alabama. Josh Reed's 19 catches for 293 yards set SEC and LSU single-game records for receptions and receiving yards as well.

9-6
