In honor of the season, let us rank the Halloween films

I've been on a kick lately, rewatching most of the films in the series. Some I realized I hated more than I thought, and some I realized I liked. While everyone's #1 should be obvious, I'm curious to see what people think of II-Resurrection. (You can rank Zombie's films if you want, but I don't see the point in ranking dogshit).

My list:

1. Halloween - A classic and still one of the best films made in the genre. Yeah it's dated but it's still a film so relevent to our time. Everything from the direction, acting, atmosphere, score...this has it all.

2. Halloween II - Hands down the second-best of the franchise. Keeps up with the tension the first one left off and all the main players are back, for the most part. And while I appreicated the lack of gore in the original, I think it was a welcome addition here.

3. Halloween IV - This is one that I had lower in my rankings before the recent rewatch. Feels similar to the original in that Myers is more of the "Shape" again. Didn't mind the Jamie plot and had some legit scary moments. Hated the mask they used though, probably worst in the series.

4. Halloween H20 - Loved to see Laurie back and the plot moved along well enough. I just wasn't feeling the "Dawson Creek" casting and honestly was kind of boring at times. Loved the ending though.

5. Halloween III - I've said it once and I'll say it again, if H3 was a standalone film and not part of the franchise it would of been much better received. As it is though, it's part of the series which it was it's #5 on the list.

6. Halloween VI - I don't hate it as much as most, and it definately isn't the worst in the series...but it's not great either. The whole Thorn plot was terrible. Had some great kills though. Sad to see this was Pleasance's final film.

7. Halloween V - Big drop from 4 in terms of quality where despite being a direct sequel didn't even feel like the same movie. Hated the plot and Tina is the most annoying character in the entire franchise.

8. Halloween Resurrection - Busta. fricking. Rhymes. Yeah, this movie sucked.
