Never realized he was such an a-hole. Seemed like his match with his "friend" Krickstein pretty much ruined the kid's life and they haven't spoken since.

that's fricked up.

I saw it tonight as well, couldn't believe the two haven't spoken since. It seemed like Krickstein was the only friend Jimmy had on Tour.

Interesting fact, Krickstein's niece is Morgan Pressel. She's his sister's kid.

Cause he quit.

You miss 100% of the shots you don't take.

I am shocked they never spoke since.

Anyway, I was looking forward to this. I was 10 staying up for that Patrick match.

My mom was there. She went for the first week for about 5 years or so every year.

I had forgotten how epic some of those matches were. Totally for got about the tirade against the chair ump, and forgot about the 4 overhead returns.

It wasn't the best 30, but it brought back memories.

What a run it was

I remember watching this match as well as all his in that Open. I was a big tennis fan at the time. It was all anyone was talking about. All day

Didn't know Connors was such a jerk at times.

Even so, tennis was soooo much better back then. Wtf has happened to American tennis.

This latest string of 30 for 30s has been pretty damn boring.

Was that the match where Connors called the chair ump an abortion? Connors was entertaining and the atmosphere was incredible during those matches but he was way out of line with his temper tantrums. John McEnroe had the reputation of being a hothead but I think Connors was even worse.

I thought this one was missing something. I think they should have spent more time on the lapse in Connors' career through the 80s to really show how much of a shock it was for him to make a run in 91. It only got good in the end when we learned he hadn't spoken to Krickstein since.

Jimmy said it "wouldn't be me" to apologize, or approach Krickstein. I don't get it. They seemed to be somewhat close before that match, how did they all of the sudden start avoiding each other? Were there some inflammatory remarks made during interviews after that match? What made it to where these guys just stopped talking?

I think the McEnroe's comments were very telling. I always remembered McEnroe was a jerk on the court, but even McEnroe said that you've got to leave that kind of stuff on the court. McEnroe has been hired to broadcast and has remained highly visible since his playing days. It's obvious that nobody like Connors because he disappeared after his career was over.

Connors has always been an a-hole. It's kind of sad because you can tell he's lonely, despite his insistence otherwise. Time, and people, move on.

Connors explanation for not talking to Krickstein ever again were just such BS. "Oh, what can you do? I'm just an a-hole."

Yeah, it's weird. I always liked Mac's tirades, and most of his animosity seemed to be directed to umps, not other players (Lendl is a big exception here). But, Jimmy always seemed really low level crude and made a point of fricking with the other guy. I always knew Mac was buddies with Vitas, but I was surprised in reading his book, how much he rolled with Borg. Jimmy was more of a loner out there, although I respect him for the chicks he banged.

The '91 run was really annoying to me at the time, but I appreciate it a lot more now. CBS playing it during U.S. Open rain delays is basically a running joke at this point.
