We know Saban has a hard time with mobile QB's. Mettenberger will be getting pressure all day.

yep. we've used him on 10 meaningless snaps this year as training to play in the most high pressure environment against the top-rated defense.

Redshirts are extinct bro. Any player worth anything will be gone after 3 years (of eligibility) anyway. If not, they'll stay for a 4th. Redshirting's really only for guys who still need to develop before even seeing the field IMO

For one, it's too late to redshirt him now. Also, redshirts are really only beneficial for someone who is a clear developmental project and you know will be around for 4 years. Players good enough to leave 3 years out of high school will leave, whether all 3 of those years are spent acutally playing or if 1 of those years was a redshirt.

Yep
Look at Michael Brockers. We redshirted him his freshman year, and he ends up going to the draft after only playing two years

Still, you couldn't have known this. They were redshirted bc they wouldnt have gotten meaningful snaps.
