To have any chance in this game, we have to put constant pressure on AJ (Stunts, blitzes, etc.). We can not get pressure on the QB just rushing 4. If we don't put pressure, it will wind up being 3rd and Chavis all night and we will get beat. Learn from your mistakes Chief....

And before you all say, "well we blitzed with one minute to go last year against Bama and look what happened".....we have no chance in this game if we come out in that non-aggressive soft zone BS.

McCarron has had some amazing O-lines to play behind, i honestly feel if the little punk had to run a little bit and make tough decisions that he would throw alot of pics

Chavis is in a predicament.

The D isn't smart enough to play zone and they are talented enough to play man.

We havent gotten consistent pressure from the front 4

If that's the key, we might as well call off the game now. LSU has not been good blitzing all year.

I hope the key is something else.

I hate to burst your bubble, but Chavis IS going to play a soft zone behind the sticks on 3rd and long.

The only way we get pressure is to blitz a DB. Thomas is much faster at getting to the qb than Eugene or Mills. Better get to him quick because McCarron is a good one who will find the open window.

I don't know that it's THE key, but it would go a long way in helping us win. It's not exactly something we've consistently done this year, so who knows if we can do it or not.

We can't get pressure on anyone, what makes you think it's going to change against their massive o line?

Keys to the Bama game:

Tackle their players.
Score more points.
Block well.
Run well.
Pass well.
Hope they do all those things worse than we do.
Punt better.
Kick better.
Keep the ball.
Take the ball from them.
All at once would be nice but not entirely required.

Anything else?

D line and linebackers looked great against florida. I think they have to be mentally prepared. Same with the O line. We manhandled florida's defense, just like ole miss manhandled us because we weren't up for the game.

Against Furman our DL had all of one sack and one hurry, both by Johnson. Thomas blitzed for two sacks.

Against Georgia, the entire defense had zero sacks and zero hurries. Not one. I had never seen that before.

I think we'll see a lot of short routes across the middle (hint: tight ends). We've been throwing almost everything deep. I gotta believe Cam and Les have a few surprises just like last years 2nd half passing game.
