Thoughts on Jon Gruden

I've been reading a good bit about the drama with Greg Schiano and the Buccaneers. Obviously, the players don't respect the man, and he's been made out to be a real jerk-off, according to former and current players, as well as others who have been around him. Obviously if the Bucs' season continues like it has, he's not going to be in Tampa much longer, so the "Who's going to be the new coach in Tampa?" questions will start to arise.
And my thought process is, why not bring back Jon Gruden? Sure, Gruden has plenty of detractors. They say he won a Super Bowl with a team that Tony Dungy built. To me, the fact that he was able to win a Super Bowl period shouldn't be tarnished, it's hard as hell to win a Super Bowl, and the man deserves credit for that. Sure, his years in Tampa after that Super Bowl season were mediocre, the Bucs won the NFC South twice between 2003-2008, but failed to win any playoff games.
So, to me, given his overall track record, why not bring Gruden back to Tampa? To me, he's wasting his talent as a coach by being a broadcaster, nothing against his broadcasting skills, he knows the game of football and provides good commentary, but to me, the man was born to be a coach. Has Tampa improved since Gruden left? Nope, they haven't even made the playoffs once since he left. As far as I know, the players respected Gruden probably a lot more than they respect Schiano, and the Buccaneers in general had much more success with Gruden than they have had with Raheem Morris and Schiano. So to me, I would give Gruden another shot if he were up to it. Now, that's not to say I would root for the Bucs if he came back, I'm still a die-hard Saints fan and I definitely would not want the Bucs to do well, especially since they're in the Saints' division. But to me, Bucs' fans should be hoping for Gruden, I would think he could turn that team around and possibly have more lasting, continual success than his first go-round.

He's waiting for the LSU job to open

I think Gruden is smarter than people realize and enjoys working 20 hours a week for 20 weeks with no pressure for 5 million a year as opposed to 70 hours a week for 50 weeks with INSANE amounts of pressure for $8 million a year.

This.
Ain't nothing wrong with being the next John Madden. And hell Vermeil was an analyst for years before taking the Ram job. So he can still get the itch years down the road and give it a shot.

I see what you did there, very nice.
The dude is probably the most enjoyable color commentator of all time. Hope he never leaves the booth...unless of course the LSU job opens up

He's one of the few I wouldn't mind replacing Miles. Could you imagine the battles we would have with Gruden vs Saban?? Sign me up

No, in not going to imagine it because it's not happening

Dude has one of the best jobs on the planet. Travel around during the season, eat at great restaurants, stay at nice places, shoot the shite with some of that weeks coaches and teams, watch some film /do a little prep work. During the game do your thing and people love you, frick up and those people still live you.
During the off season grill a couple of young rookies, then say you're a fan of literally every single one of them.
Profit.

I would love to see this happen. No doubt the guy has passion for the game. Old Seal Hands clapper doesn't impress me.

Gruden is obviously the answer to everyone's coaching problem.

In fairness, Bill Callahan (?sp) went to the same Super Bowl with the team Gruden built.
