There is a local blackout rule for League Pass if the game is being broadcast locally. Don't know how it works for the Rockets situation, but thats the rule as far as I know it.

The games wont be televised on a local Houston station? Do they black them out to get fans in the seats or to give a local station broadcast rights?

There's some kind of battle going on between the cable companies over there.

The regional sports network Comcast Sports Net Houston broadcasts the games for those in the Houston area....

...but only if you have Comcast.

Dish Network, DirecTV, and many other cable companies do not carry the channel because they think CSN Houston is charging too much for the channel.

So only those who have Comcast in the Houston area can watch the games.

Sucks.

If you get League Pass and a VPN, then you can watch the games.

A VPN will give you a different IP address... say... an IP address from New York.

So when you log into League Pass, it thinks you are in New York because of your IP address, and you will be able to watch the Rockets.

They filed for Chapter 11.

Filing for bankruptcy doesn't mean CSN Houston will cease to exist.

If you have any friends with Comcast, buy a slingbox and put it on a TV in their house. You'll get more value that way than buying league pass anyway, b/c you can use it at other times.

I live 20 miles from Toyota Center, but watch games via F***ing Shreveport b/c my MIL has Comcast there (and I put a slingbox on her TV). Slingplayer + HDMI cable, and every game on the big screen.

F*** you CSN!

When I was living in Houston, certain games would be blacked out, but league pass had the opposing teams local tv broadcast which was not blacked out. This was with direct tv about 2 seasons ago. Not sure if it had changed
