is this a good selling point to recruits? i mean the numbers speak for themselves, right? why isnt this angle more powerful than come here and win a National Title.

I would say that it is a good selling point that LSU can get you NFL ready in 3 years

Most definitely. For the most part it means you see the field some your freshman year

It may not equal NT, but it's going to be the new normal soon enough anyway, regardless of what the coaching staff tells recruits. The smart business decision for any future NFL player is to get drafted as soon as possible so they can get out of their rookie scale contracts earlier in their life.

I think a part of the inconsistencies in play we see at LSU recently is partly because we have so many players leave after 3 years. Losing those guys will have an affect the following season.

Its a great selling point to recruits but will cost you on the field eventually

excellent point, but the average high-school recruit doesn't know this. how do you press the point to the average kid.

we wont have that 3 year problem on defense if we keep playing like this

those 3 years guys are exceptional. the NFL don't just take average kids even though they go to LSU

One would have to see it as a good selling point for recruits. For LSU, not so much.

Also, lsu is second only to Vanderbilt in graduation rate in the sec.

Go to the nfl with your degree after three years....

Top high school recruits probably believe they will make it to the NFL regardless of where they go to school. They don't anticipate that program X may prepare them better for the pros than program Y. Honestly, I think comfort and fit matter much more than either of the things you mentioned. That would be my guess why Dylan was so eager to commit to LSU.

I have been giving this a lot of thought lately. Especially with the possibility of loosing a few in state guys this year. Personally I don't think it is nearly as big a selling point as people seem to feel. Reason being, the kids LSU is recruiting are all 4-5 star guys who are usually in the top 150. I get the impression these guys feel like they are good enough to make it to the NFL in 3 years regardless of where they are playing ball at. I just don't think a Hootie Jones believes he has a better chance to get to the NFL if he comes to LSU. Even with us having more players in the NFL right now and as of late having a bunch of underclassmen drafted. In my opinion it is much more important for them to play on a winning team with a legit chance at a NC. Especially when everything else is equal.

I think that having two of his teammates commit to the same school had something to do with his decision. so yea, i guess you can say he was comfortable

I think you should recruit about 10 guys a year that are program players and use the 3 years to the pros angle with the rest. There are a lot of kids that can be really good college players that may not have a future in the NFL, and having these guys in your program for 4 or 5 years can give you stability.

It is A good selling point, but it has to be part of a broader selling strategy that includes education, program development, winning, location, atmosphere, etc.

No kid chooses his college based on a single factor. Also, if you are good enough, you can go in three years from any school. Also, just because you go after 3 years doesn't mean you played as a FR. Jameis Winston will be a first rounder in the 2015 NFL draft and he had to wait a year. He'll be a three and gone guy.

Also, in the 2013 NFL draft there were 15 players who were either true juniors or RS Sophomores that were taken in the first round. They didn't all come from one school or even one conference.

LSU does sell the three year path to the NFL. Miles said last year they want players capable of this.

i agree with the other points you make but i am speaking specifically of the 3 and done aspect...It seems that Coach Miles has placed special emphasis on this part. It seems that the LSU staff is making a special point of developing the "3 and done" recruiting line.

I guess, if you are focusing on certain players who have the capacity or capability of playing for three years and then entering the draft like Rhasard Robinson, that kid can go...two more years in this system and he will definitely leave but it seems to me that not every recruit is equipped to be treated the same.

Coach Miles however, seems to want the top recruits to realize that they can come here compete for a National Title in those three years and finally reach their goal of entering the draft while forgoing that 4th year of eligibility.
