frick you NBC

Late on Friday, NBC announced a slew of schedule changes, as well as the cancellations of newbies Ironside and Welcome to the Family. Somewhat lost among all the shifting was this sad fact: Parks and Recreation is going on hiatus, effective immediately.

If you're wondering why NBC is futzing with Parks, it's actually pretty simple: The network desperately wants to get more viewers to sample 9 p.m. comedy Sean Saves the World. It's betting that all of the special programming it's planned for the 8 p.m. hour will do better than Parks, thus boosting Sean. It's also a very clear sign than NBC, perhaps not unreasonably, has given up on the idea that Parks will ever grow its audience. What this doesn't mean, at least not yet, is that this will be the final season for Parks. The failure, so far, of NBC's new comedies means that the Peacock has not yet proven it can do better than Parks on Thursdays. That doesn't mean NBC still won't decide to move on, but for now, its comedy choices are pretty limited.

Literally the only things I have ever liked about Parks is Ron.

Yes. Let's frick with the last remaining show on the network that actually works. Great idea.

I've spent the past month watching the first few seasons on Netflix. How is this show not more popular already?

I feel like this is as good a place as any to point out that According to Jim ran for 8 years and over 180 episodes.

Why do they hate their viewers? My wife had some interest in this because she liked Will and Grace and the pilot was painful to watch.

Sean Hayes is such a phony, irritating actor.

On the other hand, the crap fest 2 and a Half Men is also defying the odds of intelligence.

They screwed with the scheduling a few times, have done some half-season orders and then back-ended them. A lot of the same stuff they would do to 30 Rock or Community.
And I think one thing that hurt it getting a broader audience sooner is that it only recently went in to syndication.

Because the show is so good that people will like it more if they watch it more? WTF? The first 4 episodes weren't enough to figure this out?

Parks and Rec is a great show. NBC should be shamed and flogged.

I don't understand some of these seemingly irrational corporate decisions. How much do you think they have invested into SStW?

what a fricking joke
no one wants to have this gay dick shoved down their throats.
gay activism is one thing, forcing a show about it in the faces of everyone is another.
just as tasteless as that michael j fox show that is a weekly 30 minute parkinsons joke

They tried to do this with that sloot whitney cummings' show last year and fell on their faces. Do they never learn?
