Ole Miss crowd noise/speakers

Did anyone notice the mics near the student section and hear the crowd noise/band being blasted through the speakers in section S?
I've never seen that before and was wondering how that's even legal in the SEC. Does that not fall into the "artificial" noise category?
Not making excuses or complaining, just wanted to know if that's normal. I haven't been to many other stadiums besides LSU.

It would be one thing if it was set to low volume...but that shite was LOUD coming out of those speakers. They definitely were not trying to keep it secret

I also noticed that. I was in the upper part of section S. Strange.

Yes, I noticed it in section J.

Their stadium seats half of Death Valley so they have to come up with groovy ideas on how to make it louder there.

I thought about walking over and pulling plug.
Terrible, not to mention the crap music blaring out of it.
Almost as bad as pregame vs Florida last week.

I did. There were time periods we were on offense and it was just a constant hum/rattle. I was in the north endzone. The entire stadium setup did not impress me at all. There was more piped in music than an NBA game. Also, from the 100s, the banner scoreboards on either side provided little to no information and when OM was on defense they just kept spazzing out defense on the banner. There was no way to know the exact down and distance without swiveling your head around. You would hope they would put something in the opposing endzone besides the time and score.

Yeah at first I was thinking there was a smaller pep band behind us

My experience almost the same. Got real tired of that loud arse music real quick. Heard the buzzing almost constantly or was that just my hearing loss? Anyway, not impressed. Grove was crowded and bland. As all said everyone looked like khaki and blazer salesmen.

They kept piping in this loud reverb sound that made the whole stadium shake. Definitely not legal but it had no effect on the game. Just typical OM bush league BS.

One thing I did actually like was that the whole game they showed the scores to the other games going on which they only do like twice a game in tiger stadium.

Everytime we would get a good LSU chant started, they would crank those speakers up and the band would start playing. It was like clock work. I thought it was funny at first early in the game....but towards the end I thought it was cheap as frick.
One of the band members was at the tailgate we were at in the grove and I asked him how they felt about the speaker deal. He said the band pretty much has no say and they are all against it (referring to the piped music and their band playing through the speakers)

They're doing everything they can to make the Vauhht a tougher place to play... What'd you think about some of the pregame videos ?Our AV dept does an incredible job when it comes to highlight reels and videos to fire the crowd up.

I thought I heard a loud hissing sound.....must have been the pom poms.

I thought your pregame video was good. I liked that the jumbotron is actually utilized to show the game and not a bunch of ads. Your band plays songs and the student section just ignores them. I noticed the fans in general are standing up and cheering more. I noticed that at the Ole Miss/MSU game last year, which was the most impressed I have ever been with the stadium. The grove is an absolute nightmare. The concession stands under the bleachers are terrible and the workers are very slow. The bathroom was very clean and there was an attendant in there every single time I went to the bathroom. She was keeping that bathroom in line. I wish they did that at Tiger Stadium. Also liked that other game scores were shown on the ribbon screens.

The stadium is an acoustical nightmare. That combined with a small band is the reason for them being mic'd up. Ole Miss has moved the band to basically every section of the stadium over the last several years trying to find a solution so the entire stadium could hear them but its never worked. Ever since the south endzone renovation was completed, it's presented some major acoustical issues. It was so bad at one point, half the stadium was unable to hear the public address announcer, much less music. Several years ago they brought in acoustical engineers to try and fix the problem. They spent extensive amounts of time trying to find a remedy and were left basically scratching their head. They've finally found the solution but it took several years and lots of cash.
