If traffic was better, do you think more people would stay?

The last sporting event I went to was an Astros game. I parked in the parking lot right across the street from left field, and my seats were in the left field crawford boxes at ground level.

Since nobody goes to Astros games, when I left, I simply walked out the door, walked across the street, and got in my car and drove away without waiting for anybody.

It was a luxurious experience.

If you have to wait forever just to go a few miles, I can understand why people would not want to sit through that.

No. You don't leave at halftime to "beat traffic".

ETA: But that doesn't mean they shouldn't try and improve the traffic situation.

capacity of the stadium vs. the decent routes off of campus is pretty ridiculous

I don't have season tix to LSU but have been stuck in that crap many times. I would have to decide at every game whether to leave early.

Saints games are far more easy. I leave at 10:30 from Mandeville and get to my parking spot by 11:30 and in my seat for 11:50. I can stay for the entire game, walk back to my parking spot and hit Canal St. and be home in an hour.

This is nothing new. Traffic was a problem when the stadium held 65k.

I don't get it. If you're afraid of traffic and want to leave at halftime, why not just stay home and watch? It's been a few years since I went to Tiger stadium since I live so far away, but I'll be damned if I'm going to all that expense and trouble to leave before the game's over.
Tip: after the game, walk to a bar nearby, drink for a few hours, then take a cab home or to your hotel.

it's called the wine and cheese crowd. back in the day, the stands were full even in a blow out. then came the money grab and they priced the rowdy crowd out of the stadium.

They already are. That's why this and other threads like it are popping up. The issue isn't "if you don't like it, stay home", it's "what can be done so that people don't leave or stay home?"

I always parked in that grass lot by the Nat. Then would creep over to pastime and hang for an hour or so.and let the traffic.clear out

Well, it is a positive that a lot of the trash has been priced out. They can ruin the gameday experience.

If traffic was better and alcohol was served, people would stay longer.

Why do people care about traffic?

because it takes 2 hours to get to the stadium and 3 hours to get from the stadium. It's a big, pointless time drain that really takes away from the game day experience.

Which day was this?

bullshite Day?

I enrolled at LSU in 1989 and half the seats went unsold for SEC games for years. For the heyday, I remember being at every game in 2003 NC season and against La Tech in November, the stadium emptied halfway through the 2nd quarter.

Fans have been leaving early for years. It's now just a thing to start bitching about it.

Nah, what they need to do is sell booze in the stadium. Most people go back to their tailgates because they want to drink.
