Heard it on WBRZ, they used it some against Miss. State. Obviously I know it's a formation meant to stop the run.
What's your take on this? And who's the best extra d-lineman for that 5th spot?

Freak, Ego, and Q.Thomas would be the tackles most likely

I'm thinking either Thomas or lacoture, both having been getting a lot of playing time.

If this removes Welter from the equation. I'm all for it.

I love me some 5-2 D!!

It's kinda like the Twin TE set I-form of the offense!

And I love me some I-Form!

I would have thought that the Chief would have gone to more of a dime with blitzing D backs and N backs before just adding another big guy on the line. Maybe they just want to see more push I( guess.

If it gets just Kwon and Barrow in at LB it is a hugh plus. 5-2-4 or a 4-2-5 would both be good packages for us to run.

I thought the consensus was that this was the worst D-Line in the last 15 years so why are we putting more Dlineman out there?

because it puts 1 less LB (welter) on the field

Could you or someone Explain why this is a bad idea? Also shouldn't this help us defend against the run. If I remember right the ends play standing up at the line of scrimmage

Maybe so but, it puts one more big body up front to try and stop the run. I would rather 5 than 4.

5-2 does not necessarily mean 5 DL-men. Two wide ends could be call outside LB.

Don't get caught up in the numbers.

The 5. 2 defense typically had 3 down lineman and two upright ends I think this could help if your ends aren't that athletic because their objective is to contain and turn anything back inside

I'm thinking we'll see beckwith as one of these ends throughout the game.

I was thinking the same thing. The difference btw a 3-4 and 5-2 seem minimal. We are essential using our small DE's as big OLB's. Similar to what the Saints (dome patrol + current) or the NY Giants with Lawrence Taylor and Banks (Jack/Sam) ran. Seems like a great stop gap to me when teams start gutting us.

Because it's also the consensus that this is the worst LB corps and secondary in the last 15 years.
