Ruger American Compact Rifle

Available in 308, 7mm-08, 243. 18" barrel.

I'm sure it's the same action as the American Rifle. What would be the advantage of a shorter barrel? Would hinder ballistics?

Not enough to notice unless we're talking magnums.

Going to be a little louder.

I've always like the looks of a shorter rifle. This looks interesting. Easier to handle in stands.

And they carry much better.

I'm a huge fan of short barrels.

They're also stiffer (TWSS) and will probably shoot a few thousanths of an inch tighter at 100000 yards than a long barrel.

Been working almost non stop last few weeks. Only thing making it bearable is going buy something with it

If Cabelas has one Friday it may have a home.

shorter barrel = louder. the ballistic changes are negligible

I remember something about the .308 having tumbling problems out of a short barrel; it was a complaint with the M1A scout or something.

high chance it wouldn't affect the average shooter though

I'm just joking. I'm pretty serious about saving my ears. Mine have already gone south a good bit.
