Will be there this weekend and in the mood for some G&G for Sunday brunch. Any recommendations?

I like the ones at the Coffee Pot. Super casual place.

Atchafalaya has really good grits and grillades on their brunch menu usually.

they have maybe my favorite brunch in the city, and I'm not a very big brunch fan. bloody mary bar + live music. good times. get reservations today / they fill up quick.

EAT in the French Q serves a pretty good bowl of it.

I ate there Sunday and enjoyed the food quite a bit. I had the lump crabmeat and poached eggs over fried green tomatos. Someone at the table next to us got the G&G and I agree it looked damn good.

My only minor complaint was that I thought the price was a little high for egg dishes. My plate was $19 and I think my wife's eggs bennedict was $16 or so. The little potatos they plate with the eggs weren't much to write home about.

The bloody mary bar is money. Loved it.

I don't think a cheap Sunday Brunch exists.

You are probably right.
I do have a little coffee shop on Metairie Rd. that I go to that does a fairly good job with a limited brunch menu at a good price.
Grits and Grilliands and standard eggs bennedict are both under $10.

Thought not listed as a brunch place, I don't find Peppermill or Russel's Marina Grill to be all that expensive either.

Same here. Had the bloody mary bar and even tried the green tomato juice in one of mine. Got the special, 2 filet medallions with bbq butter gravy, shrimp, and the grits. Pretty sure I creamed my pants

yep they're always on point with their execution and flavors

precisely why I'm not a big brunch fan. eggs and a hollandaise sauce doesn't really get me going .. especially for brunch prices. of course in true fashion, you throw some lump crab meat on the plate and some people will take out a second mortgage on their home to pay for it.

Very true. I think Sunday's brunch is more about the event than the meal. It should be a time to enjoy nice weather, multiple Bloody Mary's/Mimosa's, a jazz band and the company of friends. They should be really stretched out to a two hour meal.

It's sickening considering a dozen eggs cost $3.

Yeah, I think I have narrowed it to Cafe Degas vs Atchafalya. Safe to say, Degas will be a bit quieter and Atchafalya will have a bit more of a lively atmosphere?

I will only go in nola and especially when the gf's parents are paying. But I refuse to eat the typcial brunch type shite.

Atchafalaya had a duck confit hash with some type of berry something that was incredible too. I wont get eggs benedict, or french toast, or boring stuff like that

ditto. I like the G&G @ Atchafalaya or the fried green BLT. only other brunch I've enjoyed in Nola was @ La Petite Grocery. the paneed rabbit w/ tomato corn compote, greens and bacon hollandaise is killer.
