Tony Romo vs Cam Newton "debate"

Right before the season started, I had to do the unthinkable and sort of "defend" Romeo
A few guys were arguing (Gyno, auyushu, Amos, PortCityTiger, Fox, but who's counting...) that Cam was more valuable in every league and a better choice than Romo. I said that Romo had about the same points as Cam last season and that it would likely be the same this season.
The big difference is how many rounds earlier you would have to take Cam. But I was told over and over how much better Cam would be to own.
So far in our league (6 pts for all TD's):
Newton - 64 points
Romeo - 119
Newton was drafted in the 6th round and Romo was drafted in the 9th round. Last year the difference was even worse; Cam was taken in 4th and Romo in 9th I think.
Yes, this is a "see I told you" "nanny nanny booboo" thread

Congrats? Romo is also doing much better than Tom Brady. Did you predict that one too?
ETA: Also this wasn't true for 4 pt passing TD leagues

Romo has played 5 games and Newton has played 4.
Newton was averaging 23.6 per week coming into this week. Romo was averaging 21.6
Can't beat a good "I told ya so" in week 5

WTF does Romeo have to do with Brady when the debate was concerning Romo and Cam?

They were not far off even in 4 pt leagues and the difference in round drafted is huge. I guess you don't get that?

I'm just stoked I actually got a couple of you to come back
I was lucky and drafted P. Manning in the 2nd round, so I'm loving this season so far.
Anyway, it may only be week 5 but the point still stands. In my league, the same guy who drafted Romo in the 9th is who drafted Newton in the 6th and guess who he's starting?
PS I did draft Rivers in the 14th in another league

I know, still fun to do it right after a huge week by Romo

Yeah, let's just go ahead and drop week 5 for both QB's.

Agreed

Romo went in the 6th in both of my leagues, one of them to me.

I hope my incessant talk that Romo would be as good or better before the season led to this

Had Cam been there in the 6th, I would've picked Cam.

Romo has been the most underrated fantasy player over the last 5 years. He has lit it up for me in several leagues bc people around here think he sucks so you can always grab him later than where he should be taken.

He gets drafted right where the rest of the 20 PPG QBs do. If you're content with bottom half of the top 10 QBs then that's fine. Doesn't mean he sucks.
He wasn't even in the top 10 coming into this week and cam was averaging more points per game. You can't carry the 50 points over to the next week

Prior to this week in STD scoring, Cam was at 18.7 and Romo at 16.8.
ADP:
Cam - 33.4
Romo - 80.7
Prior to this week, as well:
Only QB's to AVG 20+ points STD league:
Manning, Brees, Rodgers, Rivers, Vick
Neither Rivers not Vick went high in drafts.

It means Romo was, and is, the better value pick

There are too many variables for a right or wrong answer. Romo was a 5th and 6th round pick in my 2 non auction drafts.
I'm sure the people who rode Cam's 35, 41, and 35 point games during their fantasy playoffs last year were fine with the value that got from him

Romo- 11.8
Cam- 36.6

Cam- 36.6
