For anyone who disagrees, please explain...

Note - For you people who will proclaim Sherman, he does not blanket a team's primary receiver all game long, as Peterson does. Sherman also has a better supporting cast to help him out up in Seattle.

Yes he did. He actually did a remarkable job. He actually received praise from most experts.

Peterson is an amazing player. He offers things that no other player can offer, while still being a full time position player. However, Sherman and Joe Haden are better cover guys.

I watched him give up 72 yard touchdown catch.

If he's blanketing the same receiver all game long (which he isn't) then giving up 116 yards and 2 touchdowns isn't doing a very good job

It's Calvin Johnson.

No one in this world can completely shut that machine down. Minus the 70 yard TD where PP21 thought Carlos Dansby had a pick and hesitated, Peterson actually played very solid against him, considering who he is.

The 72 yard Td he was playing off Calvin. The linebacker had the underneath and jumped the route and actually whiffed on the int. So Calvin had 44 yds the rest of the game

I will say he's the best all around DB in the game right now as far as everything he brings to the table. As for strict coverage and erasing a man off the field...I give a slight nod to Sherman and Haden

The margin between all three is nearly minimal. PP is more versatile as to where he can line up though. Also the one that's the best doesn't have to tell everyone he's the best. His play shows it.

The linebacker was in zone coverage and you can't possibly blame that touchdown on the linebacker. PP7 misread the play and though it was picked and calvin ran right by him.

Either way, 2 touchdowns is a great day for any receiver

He is the fastest and best athlete who plays corner. He makes big plays, IMO top5 cover corner but #1 big play corner....as in picks and returns as well as his offensive play

All three - Peterson, Revis, and ESPECIALLY Sherman, have iterated they're the best. Haden is top notch, but imo not in the discussion.

The thing with Peterson compared to Sherman is that Peterson is way better athletically than Sherman is. I think Sherman has already topped out because hes not an elite athlete. Peterson, on the other hand, has improved each year a good bit and isnt topped out yet. He still has room to grow because of his elite athleticism.

Sherman has the stats to back up his game, but remember when Revis and Nnamdi were the top 2 CBs in the game?? They didnt have crazy stats because QBs didnt throw the ball their way at all.

IMO, right now, Sherman is a better lockdown CB at the moment. And while he doesnt always guard the teams #1 WR, he did shutdown Boldin a few weeks ago. And I think Haden is a better pure lockdown CB than PP today too. But, both those guys, especially Sherman, have already topped out due to athleticism restrictions, while PP is still improving and has the room to get even better, which is just scary. Peterson is nowhere near his ceiling.

Either way, all 3 of these guys are really really good. Top 3 CBs in the game. Sherman has the better cast around him and wont get that much better due to athleticism. Earl Thomas is 1 of the best FS in the game and that makes Shermans job a lot easier. Plus, having Cam Chancellor and Browner back there, to go with a nasty front 7, sure makes it easier.

In the next 5 years though, the best CB will be PP, with Joe Haden 2nd, then Sherman. PP will continue to improve because his athleticism is freakishly unnatural, while Sherman wont get that much better. Haden will fall between Sherman and PP. Hes a better athlete than Sherman by far, but not on the PP level.

Jsoula, Haden is very much in the discussion. Hes been the best lockdown CB in football this year while guarding the opponents #1 WR. WRs that are AJ Green, Mike Wallace, Torrey Smith, and Greg Jennings.

if saying he got beat by possibly the best WR ever = hating, then I'm sorry you are so sensitive.

He's a top NFL corner, I just don't think he is the best
