It's been a LONG time since I have played and want to see if they have improved endgame and added more to do. High end armor in this game was too fricking confusing to figure out.

It still sucks.
Most of the stuff that made the game a boring grind when it was released are still in effect.

It was fun leveling to max level, but after that it was boring. Guess I will level my 4th toon to max level again, it will give me something to do since I am bored with games I have. Might be time to do another Everquest run.

This will be true for any game that isn't sandbox. Developers just can't make enough content to keep pace, and therefore, players consume it until there is no more and nothing left to do because the structure of the game only allows you to consume whats fed to you.
The key is having players create their own content within the basic framework, that way, there is always new things being done by players on the fly which should extend the game by a long time.

I've been thinking about doing the same DoUrden.
It's either that or get into the SWG Emu.

I wish they would re-release the game in original form. I can't believe they ruined it.

After playing FFXIV ARR for over a month now, both of these statements hold true. I know some of the FF crowd won't like this, but it is my opinion even GW2 had more things to do after leveling then FF.... I find myself at 50 now running the same content(skipping most of the dungeon to be as efficient as possible) over and over again with a slight chance of grabbing an upgrade and no chance of making $$$. Neverwinter was the same but even it had more to do it max level then FF.....
The genre itself has ran it's course. Until someone redefines it completely or replaces it with something that attracts the same crowd and plays completely different, these games will keep getting pumped out and only hold the majority of the fan-base for only a few months.
ETA: I never uninstalled GW2 and may join you for old time sake if i ever get the time.

Holy shite.
Less to do in arr than gw2 at max..wow
arenanet has been dropping content every 2 weeks lately.
I logged in last week. My bags were full and I didnt feel like fricking dealin with that so I logged out. Lol.
cool game.

Way less...I've been max for a week and already getting burnt out and play far less then I used to. Maybe every other night for an hour or two...GW2 kept me entertained for a few months at least and the dungeons were actually challenging. I lost interest when the instance grinding started in GW2, but that is all you have in FF...no world encounters, no PvP, crafting is pointless, gathering is extremely painful to level and pointless with all the hacking bots, mobs don't even drop gear or $$ so its a never ending dungeon chest grind. The recent summer fest event didn't even compare to the GW2 events (Yeah those fun times where the server used to crash during insane world encounters). By no means does any of this mean GW2 is a great game, but it is not nearly as bad as most make it out to be. If they would have stuck with the trinity class roles it would have been a lot more successful, and if they ever went back to that I would start playing it again.

I agree that it was a failed attempt at getting rid of the trinity, I do give them credit for trying though because so many had been complaining about it for years.

Totally agree. Hindsight is 20-20, but I think now people understand you have to have it in these types of games. GW2 has a beautiful world, rapid content updates, and well thought out ideas, but an MMO is just awkward without specific class roles.

I agree, I realized this about halfway through SWTOR when I couldn't figure out why a game that had everything I loved just couldn't hold my attention. I have high hopes for EQNext, from some of the early interviews it seems to be one to break the mold. Fingers crossed.

You mean EQ Next aka EQ3? The game seems to be vaporware at this point

Oops sorry, I forgot about the actual eq2, easy to do....

A lot of the more recent MMO's have been doing this one way or the other, some on a large scale and some smaller. While this is admirable, the majority of these things won't work and the few that do are hampered by an angry mob that is used to doing the same way for years.
A good example is the Neverwinter targeting system. Oh great no on-screen mouse just rotate and adjust camera to target!!! Was actually very fun as a DD or DPS, but go try healing someone with that or tanking adds as they run in from all sides of the room. It is horrible... 6-man groups had to bring two healers due to their being no way to be efficient.
ETA: This targeting system would have worked beautifully for GW2 where the trinity does not exist.

I'll disagree with this here.
There are multiple world encounters with Odin, Bahamut, and Behemoth (not to mention smaller FATEs in Northern Thanalan).
PvP is going to be added with 2.1 which is hitting next month.
Crafting isn't pointless at all. I'm not a huge fan either, but a lot of people enjoy it.
Gathering is painful to level, definitely not pointless though.
