Lerner out at the IRS

but not for the reasons you would suspect...

Must be nice to be on paid leave for month, then up and take your retirement package.

quote:

The Internal Revenue Service says an official at the center of the agency's tea party scandal is retiring.

Lois Lerner headed the IRS division that handles applications for tax-exempt status when she was placed on paid leave in May. While she was in charge, the agency acknowledged that agents improperly targeted tea party groups for extra scrutiny when they applied for tax-exempt status from 2010 to 2012.

Lerner first disclosed the targeting at a law conference in May, when she was asked a planted question about IRS treatment of political groups. Less than two weeks later, she refused to answer questions at a congressional hearing, citing her constitutional right not to incriminate herself

I need to find a way to pull that off. Except I need around eight years of leave (and that's only to get me to eligibility, I need another six so as to get better benefits).

So she no longer gets government lawyers to protect her if she is charged, correct?

There is no way the admin isn't neck deep in this IRS shite.

If you were the POTUS, and you claim to be as "shocked" by all of the targeting as you claim to be. Then why would you simply change the narrative and move on to something else, rather than pursue this corruption further?

I was wondering that too... How does that play into her waiving the 5th, blah blah blah scenario, if any

What specific crimes are alleged to have been committed by her? What case can be made?

Purjury, amongst others.
Just a matter as to when the charges come down.

The statements which Congress members assert were lies under oath.

Try out "Google".
It's a "search engine".

Type in a search request such as "Lerner + lies to congress". Google will will lead you to some information.

re: Lerner out at the IRS

What does this mean in terms of her actually receiving her retirement benefits? If you retire before you can be fired, what does that do exactly?

not surprised at all.

You have all this information but I thought I'd humor you. I'll be waiting for you to link some incredibly comprehensive document that no one has ever seen to "prove" your position is correct. I sprung the trap for you.

I don't see anything in your links that point to specific perjurious statements

Do you have anything more specific?

Anyone have quotes of the specific statement(s) at issue?

What congressional staff would be privy to this information

quote:

Lois G. Lerner, the woman at the center of the IRS tea party targeting scandal, retired from the agency Monday morning after an internal investigation found she was guilty of “neglect of duties” and was going to call for her ouster, according to congressional staff.

How about you just relax and let it play out then.

If she did not perjure herself, she'll be found innocent. If the lying witch did perjure herself, she will be put in jail with other liars, thugs and thieves, where she'll belong.

Lerner was politically involved as evidenced in emails, guilty of “neglect of duties”, awarded " a bushel of Pinocchios" by WaPo, and accused of lying under oath by several Congressmen. The fact you think this woman is innocent as the driven snow has very limited interest. You are not an honest broker. Eventually a court will decide though.

Dunno I guess the IRS ARB report is given to all members of the relevant committees (or their staff). Dunno though.

quote:

But Rep. Sander Levin, ranking Democrat on the House Ways and Means Committee, said an Accountability Review Board set up to investigate the people at the agency involved with the scandal, completed their review and were set to recommend her ouster. The review board, though, found no evidence of political bias, he said.

quote:

But Mr. Levin, who had called for Ms. Lerner to resign early on, said there is still no evidence of political motivation in Ms. Lerner’s actions or those of others at the IRS. He said the GOP is stretching to create a political scandal.

“The basic overreaching premise of the Republicans that the IRS had an ‘enemies list’ and was being influenced from the outside has been proven wrong again, as it has again and again,” Mr. Levin said. “Just as the IRS has to move with all deliberate speed to restore the public trust, so too must the Republicans by not distorting the investigation and by acknowledging the improvements.”
