great game, I just didn't find it fun after I beat it and I doubt I'll replay it anytime soon

Worse purchase for me was The Walking Dead: Survival instinct. Biggest waste of money.

NCAA 14 for the sheer fact that they didn't even update the jerseys or study the new releases enough to know that the hog on the white helmet is RED now and that our garbage gradient numbers are gone.

Killzone Mercs. Good game, but it had the misfortune of coming out right before GTA5. Smart move would have been to wait for a price drop.

It is a beta...correct me if I am wrong, but a Beta is all but complete.
It's actually still in alpha according to Wikipedia and a few articles, including this one ( LINK).
I did some lite software development in a previous job and "alpha" for us meant features weren't locked yet. More could be added.
Obviously you and anyone else are entitled to be disappointed in your purchase but this seemed like unfair criticism. However, I admit I haven't played it myself. I'm still interested in the game but am waiting on a more complete product before buying.
This is an interesting topic, though, because there is a definite trend lately of getting "early access" to incomplete games on Steam, etc. I know the developers / publishers like to get some funds asap but these early, buggy, and feature-poor releases might be killing the excitement and momentum for their final product.

It's just hard to get into Arkham City when I loved Asylum so much.
I liked earning new weapons and moves. It seems that some of that stuff was supposed to carry over. I felt like I could do a whole lot more in Asylum.

I think you and I are the only 2 on this board who think Asylum was better than City.
Adding an open world city to the formula sounded like a good idea on paper but it didn't work for me so great in practice. I hated how there was this big horse-shoe shape to the whole thing, so I had to go around this giant wall to get from one end of the city to the other.
Also, there's not a lot of interesting things to do in the city, so it just comes off as padding. The best parts of the game (and of the series) are the interiors of the buildings which is what Asylum was 90% of the time.
Oh, and there's just WAY too much Riddler crap in AC, EVERYWHERE.
I'm coming off negative to AC but I still liked it and it had some good improvements over AA, specifically to the combat and gadgets. But to me it felt like they took Asylum and diluted it.

That's fine, but why do you say this as if it's a new revelation? This was a one man project from the beginning. I never expected a quick release.

Yea, but communicating daily with the consumer up until release, and then going MIA on release with no updates or response to the consumer is sketchy

For once me and you do not agree on games

I haven't kept up with it in detail myself, but people on the Cubeworld subreddit are saying he's always been bad about communication, often having gaps of 3 - 6 months before posting anything on FB or Twitter. I think the exception to this was the time right around alpha release when people were having trouble purchasing.
Regardless, if he always intended to communicate this infrequently, I don't think he should have released the alpha and charged for it in the first place. As soon as people have a little money and time invested, they expect feedback in return. If I had bought it, I'd probably be pissed too.
(Correction: It's actually a 2 man team.)

No it isn't. I get that they want to get some upfront cash to help develop the game but don't charge $20 for something that has next to no content.
It had the same minecraft style with next to nothing to build or kill.
Once again, the game was a rage on here for a few days then nothing since.
I will toss out that I didn't like Minecraft thus it might not be my thing. So....it is still my recent worst purchase whether you like my reason or not.

the riddler shite was one of my favorite parts of AC. figuring out the pressure panels, maneuvering around to get the trophies, etc. I loved it
Posted on 9/23/13 at 6:30 pm to TH03
I did some of them. They are optional so they shouldn't be an issue although there were a lot. I agree that it was a mistake to have a prison in the middle that had to be dodged. They could have designed that a little better. I still liked the setting more than aa but they were both great

I'm with you. I can't get in to City like I did Asylum.
