Good, sustained drive down the field. Demorilizing end if you put any points on the board. Kicking it makes it a 31-7 game and Auburn is getting the equipment packed up and subbing liberally. NO reason to fake that FG. Momentum killer and gave those yahoos hope. Bad decision.

Payback for the onsides to start the second half and I have ZERO problem with it. LSU controlled the game and made plays when they needed to

Doubtful. Good coaches sometimes make bad decisions and this is one of those instances. Not only was it 4th and long, but a field goal is almost as good as a touchdown in that situation. Those 3 points would force Auburn to score more than 3 touchdowns or convert 3 2-point conversions to beat us (both highly unlikely).

I haven't kept up with the 1000 threads about this but don't yall think Les was trying to get Fruge' a TD for his career?

If it was 4th and 4 I say its worth the risk if you see the look you want, but it was 4th and 11 and you fruge running. he actually did a good job and almost broke the last tackle but 4th and 11 up the middle is a hard one to swallow

Saw a good point by Derek P. Faking the field goal may provide future dividends because teams will be hesitant to run all out blocks when we kick, in fear of a fake. We got the W and it could prevent a key kick from being blocked down the road.

Thank you for starting this thread.
This is a subject that has been ignored since the game ended and needs to be discussed.

24 down isn't much more demoralizing than 21 down, especially that early in the game.

The fake was called because there was a weakness spotted in Auburn's field goal block alignment during film study.

It's plausible. Les likes the kid and quite frankly I do too. He's done great on ST coverage. He's obviously not the best but he plays with a TON of heart. Every time I see him fist-pump on kickoff, I can't help but join in!

The only problem i have with it is it was 4th and 10. Thats a long way to run up the middle on a fake FG. i believe he got about 8.

24 = 4 scores
21 = 3 scores

(unless you think a team will make 3 TDs and 3 2-pt conversions in a row)

in those conditions, and with a young defense without a lot of experienced depth, you help out your defense and Kick The Field Goal.

They had just as much of a chance to do that as they did of scoring 21 unaswered points to come back and beat us.

The defense was playing well up until that ensuing drive. If we needed a field goal there to ensure a victory then we have a lot more issues that need to be addressed.

It wasn't a bad call, it wasn't a good call. It was a call based on fim study.

If you watch it, it was actually an option pitch.

And Colbi looked uncovered as frick.

I liked the call, as did most people. Relax. Don't sleep on LSU Special teams;)

Did this thought just pop into your head? Did you ever think this may have been discussed several times already since the game and you probably could have jumped in one of those threads.

And if he had scored you would have been high fiving your buddies and laughing about the call.
