Rep. Nancy Pelosi: Nothing left to cut in budget — ‘the cupboard is bare’

LINK

quote:

House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi says Republican-led efforts to rein in government spending are pointless because there is nothing left to cut in the almost $4 trillion-a-year federal budget.

“The cupboard is bare. There’s no more cuts to make. It’s really important that people understand that,” Mrs. Pelosi, California Democrat, said in an interview broadcast Sunday on CNN’s “State of the Union.”

Idiots gonna idiot. More idiots keep re-electing this idiot.

Try harder I can assure you the cupboard is not bare. Make the tough decision to cut programs and piss off some of your voter base. Typical politician worrying about winning elections rather than doing their job.

Like it or not there is a lot of truth in this....

The only cuts that can be made would be in discretionary spending, unless of course we are going to not abide by contracts we have signed....contracts with retirees and veterans and orphans and investors who have provided loans to us with the expectation that we will at least pay the interest owed. Discretionary spending accounts for less than 1/3 of the budget and almost 2/3's of that is military spending. So if we cut all discretionary spending except the military out of the presidents current 2014 budget proposal it would take a little over 29 years to pay off the deficit. If we cut all discretionary spending including the military it would take about 14, but of course the point would be moot because we would no longer exist as a sovereign nation.....

The easiest way would be to start where we spend a majority of our money. So once we're done cutting the military down, you know closing foreign bases pulling the troops back home, closing guantanamo, that kind of stuff.

We could start by removing the stimulus from the budget, that is 800 billion plus whatever compounded on top of that from the baseline budget increases...

jesus, you are so pathetically wrong every time you post this drivel.

it's not even worth arguing against your emotional ridden drivel.

Right from the OfA handbook "Dont wait for facts, and use emotionally charged arguments"

Fine by me. Why didn't you just end your post there?

Oh, that's right....you seem to think the more words you use the more intelligent you appear. The opposite is true.

Now that's a classic appeal to emotion.
So old and worn in fact that I'm surprised a modern fellow like you still uses it.

Looks like you got "deficit" confused with "debt"
