Take a deep people. Have you watched football in the Les Miles' era? This is what LSU does. We always take our foot off the gas. The fans always leave early. If I had my druthers would smash Auburn by 50 in front a 90,000 maniac fans. Sure. But that's just not what we do.

The good news is, we're 4-0 headed into Georgia and the team will be up for that one I assure you.

Maybe they will be glad to play in front of a full stadium...

Why would anybody want to sit in the rain and watch our offense run the ball twice up the middle, throw an incompletion and then punt? Maybe if the team played like they didn't want to go home then the fans wouldn't either.

I'll assume you are talking about yourself. Do you disagree? Les Miles murdered every team that year except Bama.

This is the most frustrating part of the Les Miles era. I'm convinced that LSU really has never had that bad of an offense, it's just that Les seemingly has always had a "just do enough necessary" approach to game management. We've all seen the wins where LSU seemed to dominate the entire game yet had to hang on in the 4th to pull out the victory, but his approach is more glaring in games that LSU has fallen behind in. It's as if LSU doesn't turn on the offense until they absolutely have to. For ex:

2012 v. Alabama: LSU's offense struggles in the first half as it had most of the year and they go into halftime down 14-3. 2nd half, ZM plays his best football of the year. The passing game opens up and makes Alabama's D look helpless.

2012 v. Ole Miss: LSU's defense just didn't have it that day, yet somehow the same offense that had been pretty pedestrian all year goes toe-to-toe in a shootout to get the win

2010 v. Tenn: Jump out to a nice lead. Look to be in control and then just completely shut it down on Offense. However miraculously, once UT goes up, LSU finds a way to generate a game winning drive.

2010 v. Alabama: Go into haltime trailing, offense looks awful in first half, only to see JJ come out and have maybe his best game as a Tiger and see Lee put the game away on a big 3rd down pass to Randle.

2009 v. UGA: Offense looks good early but fails to score TD's in the redzone; Offense goes into complete shutdown mode until UGA takes the lead in the 4th, then responds with an 88 yard drive to jump back on top.

It's almost as if the philosophy is "as long as we have the lead let's just try to coast, don't risk any mistakes and just hang on until the end." However Mile's offense seem to ALWAYS respond when pushed, which makes you as a fan think "see, we know it's there, why does it take having our backs against the wall to see it?"

I couldn't agree more. I am tired of watching LSU get blown out week after week. This year especially I am tired of watching LSU not score points. Last night when LSU didn't throw the ball, I was sad. Last night when none of the runs scored, I was disappointed.

I agree with this. I for one am so disappointed that Hill only rushed for 184 and 3 TDS. It is truly sad that we only put up 35 against Auburn and that we are 4-0.

I guess you are in Houston by your avatar info and you don't get the post game analysis. LSU did not let off the gas and further more you would be stretchin it to say there were more than 40K there at the start of the 4th.

Quoting Hannigrif on the Post Game show all agreed that LSU ran and passed the ball appropriately in the second half playing with a 21 point lead. Mett threw a pick and poor play by the Safeties led to two long throws - yes those long throws were on the safety Eugene. Couple that with LSU's defense getting gassed Auburn was able to generate a lot of offense in the second half.

Everyone should have known that you can't keep a young defense that lacks depth on the DL out of the field all night. Les just can't go into a holding pattern when there are 3 Qtrs left to be played.

And you can provide stats for this?
I didn't see the "holding" pattern until the 4th, after the last TD.
3 or 4 straight incompletes, with offensive PI included might cause a coach to just want to get +14 game over with.

I think he sensed the team was a bit gassed. There seems to be some fading after 20-25 minutes of each half.

There seem to be more threads and posts about people needing to stop freaking out than there are threads and posts of people freaking out.

Not surprising they lost motivation after all their so-called "supporters" ran for the exits before the game was barely half over
