AR-15 Build Problem

I started this AR build a couple of months ago and got stuck so I put it to the side for a while. Now, with the wet weather this weekend I want to see if I can finish it.
Problem: I have a polymer lower.
Now that we're over that, I'll get into the real dilemma. Buffer retainer is stuck in a depressed position. I assume the precut hole in the lower was a tad bit small. I was able to get the spring in and the buffer retainer, but it does not raise up and lower freely. It is completely stuck in the depressed position and I haven't been able to get it out.

What I tried:
-HEAT - I tried holding a blow dryer on it for a long time to see if it would soften the parts up and loosen them up. No luck.
-LUBE - I lubed it before I put the buffer spring in and let it soak in Kroil and WD-40. Still no luck.
-PULL IT OUT - I can't reach it with needle nose or any tools I have.
Solutions??? Besides throw it away and buy a new lower and a new LPK?
How important is the functionality of that retainer to the safety of the AR?

I'm thinking about just taking one of my dads next time I go back home.

You can get a new, non polymer lower, for $100 or less...

Try a small pair of hemostats to clamp down on that thing and use the heat and lube to extract that sucker.
Good luck with the polymer lower report back on performance when she's all together.

Yeah, but then I have to buy a new LPK also. That makes this "budget" AR a $1500 gun.

I'll see if I can get my hands on a set. When I bought this house they had a pair in a desk that wa left in the garage. It had an old roach in it.

I built my 300 black out in the middle of the panic and it barely cost me 1k.

I don't think so. That's the problem I've been having. All the fricking detents were tight getting in and not reacting to the spring. I don't think I'll get any of them out, or the springs behind them.
Anybody build ARs and have extra springs/detents? Please. I'd go buy a new lower today if that was all I needed to finish.

Lower - $100
LPK - $100
Upper - $600
BCG - $200
Charging handle - $50 (don't really remember)
Then I got some magpul furniture that cost a couple hundred.
Anybody in BR carry LPK that are that cheap? I guess I got the panic price of $100+ for mine.

What brand polymer lower do you have?

Have you tried trying to tap out the pin with a punch?
If you can get it out a little, put some vise grips to it and give her a yank, then get a drill bit and open the hole up a bit so it will fit.

But if you're dead set on salvaging it, you could drill a small hole from the bottom and tap it out with something.
