If it rains heavily before game day? And yes, I'm aware that there is a 15 page weather thread. This question was asked a few times in that thread but no one knew. I'm just wondering if it pours rain ask day Saturday, will they keep it covered until player warmups? Any former or current grounds keepers care to weigh in? Thanks.

No. No need to either. The field had a new surface put ina few years back and it drains extremely well.

Don't you pay attention? It never rains in Tiger Stadium. No need to cover the field.

The field does not get covered. It is sand based and has excellent drainage recently put in.

I think it can handle like 10 inches of rain and still only be damp.

The new surface and the severe turtle back keep it from needing to be covered.

It' gets covered. It will still be damp, but most college fields actually drain pretty damn good these days. We were talking bout this earlier....... Isn't it weird no one gets MUDDY any more during rain games? Course that POS field against Penn St. A few rears back is a bad memory

The entire field is sprayed heavily with an agronomy based scotchguard. This creates a very swift drain and allows the field to stay dry with no oily residue.

I was at that Cap 1 bowl! I think I saw the ball floating away at one point.
