This is so dumb...

I think it is absolutely amazing that the leader of one of the Houses can choose not to have a vote on a Bill that has passed the other.

If legislation passes the House, where all financial matters are supposed to originate, then the Senate should be forced to have a vote on it.

If it passes or not is another matter, but it should at least be voted on.

....to go to the senate where everybody knows it will be voted down .

The house has voted to overturn Obamacare 40 times. The 41st is not going to change anything.

The senate is going to block it. It's purely symbolic.

Good. I know it will never pass in the Senate but at least the House is voicing the concerns of the majority of the electorate who put them in office. Hopefully the Pubs can win the Senate in the midterms and abort this abortion of a bill.

Again, I cede my time to Karl Rove

quote:

Former adviser Karl Rove to George W. Bush warned House Republicans that their move to tie defunding ObamaCare to legislation that would fund the government would "strengthen the president while alienating independents."

quote:

"The desire to strike at ObamaCare is praiseworthy. But any strategy to repeal, delay or replace the law must have a credible chance of succeeding or affecting broad public opinion positively," Rove writes.

According to Rove, independents break 58-30 percent against defunding the Affordable Care Act if it risks even a temporary shutdown of government.

Good let the senate vote it down. Just anohter vote by Mary Lnadruie for a law that thew vast Majority in Louisiana now hate. The GOP are being very smart. It will only help in 2014.

Actually they will vote to amend it (by taking out the Obamacare defunding provision, which is permitted). This will result in two versions of the bill, resulting in the (always infamous) conference committee.

Ah, the precious independents.

Many of them are probably against a shutdown because they are sucking on the government's teat.
