I'm going to invest in mudboat for hunting. hoping someone might be able to suggest which of the motors has the best performance.

I haven't a clue other than most of the guys I hear mention using them have either a Go-devil or a Pro-Drive.

I'm in the same situation. I've looked at the go-devils and pro-drives, and they are sweet, but I'm also looking at Gator-Tail. Made in Louisiana and can do alot of custom work for your boat. Any other OBer thoughts on Gator Tail?

I haven't been on this board long enough to know how MM dialogue works but on any other duck hunting website, it will hit 10 pages and possibly result in a meet-up for a throwdown.
Just will sit back and observe the OB's actions here.

Cajun.. it all depends on your needs and budget,
if you need to carry a load and have got a good distance to travel then look at 30+ horsepower surface drive. For light loads and "NO lillies"then a go devel will work. I have a allwelded skiff with a 18HP go devel and will be posting it on LA sportsman soon to sell its a great rig I just dont use it anymore . The sky is the limit on Prodrive rigs , also if you need to go over logs and stumps and stuff a pro drive wont
be as forgiving as a go devel. have fun

Depends on what u want to do with it other than run thru the mud.
We have a prodrive. Its huge and heavy, good for mud/lillies/ and fishing. Just dont get it stuck.

Cool, we could have been neighbors. What street? I grew up on Jamar. Nice hood then, I guess it's still good to go.

I've used them, both good motors. Go over to mudmotortalk.com and do some reading to see what would fit you the best. It depends on where you will be using it and what boat it'll be going on.
Make sure you go through a dealer that you feel will support you and is relatively close by
And be sure to check this one out before you decide. LINK
I personally have the old-school mudbuddy longtail and use a couple different surface drives on occasion. Considering an upgrade, but can't justify $6k+ to go a little faster.
Just remember that they all can break if not maintained, so it's hard to use that as a qualifier when reading other's posts.

Let's round up the Monroe folks for a brewski!
Last time we did it, it didn't turn out so well..
Are you still in Monroe?

Prefer the Go-Devil. More forgiving over logs as mentioned, and the longtail allows you to get the prop to water even when the hull itself is stuck in mud/grass. Can also use the tail as a pushpole to help move the boat from side-to-side, and as a brake in the mud when coming in fast to a dock or whatever.

Dad. Not Hardly. I have met my quota on youngsters.
Glenmar. That ain't near Lexington school. That's the Garden District. Your one step away from the hood. At least you will be close to a real high school, so go ahead and get Neville season tickets.
