Anyone think Kromer's absence is the reason for the O's struggle?

Former OL coach and run game planner.

OL allowing pressure on Brees in both games and only gaining 151 team rushing yards after two games?

Kromer sent five OL-men to a combined nine Pro Bowls, and routinely had his unit up there in the "fewest sacks" category.

And he owns the two top rushing seasons (2009 & 2011) where the Saints set franchise rushing records, both over 2000 yards as a team.

transitioning from a coach who's been there forever is not an easy task. give them a few more weeks and we'll be fine imo.

I'd believe that.

I saw you were the OP and was hoping for some funny bad-arse .gif

But yes, the O-line was a lot better then and is in need of help now.

I need to rewatch but the look of (Evans?) during the second sack was horrible. it's like he knew he was beat and just stood up rather than trying to help Drew. Just had a dumb look on his face and looked like he gave up.

It's possible, but you'd think a lot of the stuff that he taught would be retained

to me, Evans doesn't look right physically. I dont know if he is injured or out of shape or what, but he is getting beat way too much.

we left at least 13 points on the board today, TB's secondary is also pretty damn good too

It would be nice to have kromer, but I blame the o line's shortcomings on Ingram

Eh, I think you're dealing with two mediocre to poor tackles, and average center, and two solid guards that just happen to be better at pass blocking.

I think continuity has a lot to do with it.

basically, the Saints are still breaking in a left tackle in Charles Brown who had only taken significant reps at right tackle before this season.

Grubbs is only in his second season with the team.

DLP has been solid for a few years now.

Evans hasn't looked good so far this season.

Strief has been injured some the last few years and there has been some instability at that spot IMO because of it.

average center

DLP is better than average.

I think his size doesn't allow him to be too much better than average.

I just feel like that when this offense really started to hit its stride a few years back there was more continuity on the line.

could be way off.

If he is then just barely. The guards around him make him look better than he is in reality.

He was having leg troubles on the sidelines while our defense was on the field. The team was wrapping it up and he supposedly was iffy to come back it, though obviously he did.

He was also questionable before the game.

A foot or an ankle.

Evans has not looked good so far.

Have you even been watching?

I mean maybe he is fighting some kind of I injury but he hasn't been his usual self.

Continuity could be a factor.

But I will add, we know coaching makes a difference. I could point to Mettenberger with new OC Cam now as opposed to Mett with Stud. Or the Saints without Payton (who is now 2-0 in his comeback season)

When Kromer was here, even adequate tackles like Bushrod & Stich could give quick-release Brees a semi-pocket, and Jahri didn't have off days, especially not two in a row.

I think TB had a great defensive gameplan. Our OL aside, Drew looked confused & our WRs didn't seem to be getting open.

Of course run blocking was a problem, esp with Ingram back there.

Our OL looks so much better when Brees is able to get into a rhythm. And he couldn't today. Maybe it was the delay and wet conditions. But I don't think it was all on the line

Why is this so hard to understand? Tampa's D is legit. Goldson and revis are both nasty and tampa's D had plenty of talent before their arrival.
