Is getting a dish the only way to watch games while tailgating?

Are there other options?

No. You can catch local channels from a regular digital antenna. That's what I'm doing. I can catch Cbs and Abc. I will be watching the Tennessee game and the Bama game out there today.

Get an HD antenna. They're not expensive. Of course, I don't think you'll be able to watch the games on cable though (read: ESPN)

Newer TVs have them built in sometime. Test before you go out though.

We have digital antenna and sling box for espn. A buddy has it set up at his house and brings his laptop and hooks it to the tv.

You get enough service to stream? That's a lot of data to stream that long

We've used a laptop to stream Watch ESPN and First Row, JustinTV etc and go HDMI out to the tv.

I'm able to log in to the LSU secure wifi and it has worked nicely.

This.

There is a delay but it doesn't matter for the shitty espn stuff.

yeah if you have wifi access and a decent laptop you can stream espn3.com and plug your laptop into the TV via HDMI cable.. and you then go to your display settings (right click on the desktop screen background.. drop down to screen resolutions) then under there select the option for "extend displays" rather than multiple monitors.. now you can still use your lap top as you wish and just drag the espn3 stream over to your TV and full size it..

If u have an iPad and the "watch ESPN" app, you can connect to a tv with a HDMI cable and just mirror whatever is playing on ur iPad. It eats up some major data though!

Get hdmi adapter for your ipad, plug into TV. Quick and easy, but it burns through your data plan.

If you use an antenna, check to see if games are on the local network channels. Last year we set up an antenna in Baton Rouge for the Bama/aTm game but got some Disney movie instead.

To get all channels, like home, yes. My suggestion, if you have satellite/are going to get satellite is to practice dish pointing. It's fricking easy to do. Don't view it as difficult, because it isn't.

Satellite TV and the ability to be self reliant in dish pointing makes it great for tailgating. Once again, practice dish pointing and learn how to do it.

Possibly rotate your antenna 90 degrees or so or elevate it.

The first thing I'd try would be to rescan for channels.
