No, I'm not fishing the big tour this year. I was planning on fishing the H20 event out of fourchon a few weeks ago but I ended up being stuck offshore. I'm planning on fishing the big tour again next season though.

Just saw this on the HT facebook page:

quote:

A costly mistake for the team of the year race leaders. Team majek docked 1 hour, 2 the team of the year points and 500.00 for getting on plane too soon when exiting a no wake zone... Eschete and Jordan called in when they realized they made the mistake and was summoned back to the dock by tournament director pat malone to serve the time portion of their penalty... no fish were in the livewell at the time of this teams release to go fish...

2 solid fisherman right there. If anyone can overcome something like that, it's Clark & Dewayne...

YGM

Yeah, Clark & Dewayne are 2 very solid anglers. They have been on one heck of a hot streak this season. They have won over $100,000 this season & they are making it look easy.

Damn, 1hr for cutting no wake zone short. I like it, a little excessive, but I like it.

Practice, practice & more practice. If you can't get out on the water as much as you would like, just go out in your back yard & practice flipping or casting into a 5 gallon bucket. For the guys who sight fish a lot, making accurate casts is super important.

Do your homework when fishing new areas. Always have a backup plan. Then make a backup plan for your backup plan & then make a backup plan for that.

Pay attention to your surroundings & the weather. Prepare for changing weather conditions.

Take care of your equipment & keep it in tip top shape. Equipment failure always seems to bite a team or 2 in the butt every tournament.

It’s not just about casting a certain bait at a fish, it's having a plan, and a back-up, and a back-up for your back-up. It's pure time on the water and knowing what is going to be good fish for that tournament and what is not. Knowing based on certain conditions where the fish will travel or how they will react.

Over time (years) you build a knowledge base of certain areas, kind of like knowing what traffic will be like in your areas at certain parts of the day.

There really is no substitute for time on the water and tournament experience...

This is so true... I giggle when I hear someone say they would not buy a boat that a tournament guy owned.... I can promise you the boat and everything in it has been maintained to a T... it has to be or it will cost you at the worse possible minute.

Yeah, Cajun & Kevin had a tough tournament in Port Aransas. That really hurt them in the points.

Every tournament is a learning experience & there is always something that you can learn from every tournament that you fish. It's the little things that make the difference. Always keep a positive attitude no matter what happens & don't worry about what everyone else is doing. You can't control what happens to other teams, but you are always in control of what happens in your boat. Make every cast count.

Pretty easy to do that when launching out of Falgout

I honestly have no idea where the wake zone begins there...
