With the first home game right around the corner, I thought it would be fun to describe our favorite Tiger Stadium moments.

For me, 2012 Bama was by far the most exciting game I've ever attended. I wasn't at the 2007 Florida game, unfortunately.
That game was so loud, so intense, that my ears were ringing before the end of the first quarter. The windless air of that night had a different feel to it. It had a feel of optimism, a feel of victory, a feel of intensity that I haven't felt before. Yea, we lost the game but that was by far my favorite game I've ever been to.

ESPN said it right when they said a while back "I'm not sure what it was like to walk into the Coliseum, but I bet it was something like that", in an article after one of the games. If I'm not mistaken, I think it may have been for the 2012 LSU vs. Bama game.
I read another time where the South Carolina quarterback from a few years ago said "It was so loud I could barely read the signals. My eyes were vibrating". That's awesome

What's your favorite moment or game in Tiger Stadium?

Billy Cannon's famous 90 yrd. run on Halloween night to win the game against O'L PISS! 1958.

I think the loudest game I have been to was 2003 Georgia. I was in the student section and there were a few times that I thought I wouldn't be able to hear after the game.

This. Saying that TS is the greatest atmosphere in all of sports can't be topped IMO.

If the tiger's future cage isn't a 'Sign of the Apocalypse,' you should be able to see one from the historic, 92,000-seat Tiger Stadium, otherwise known as Death Valley. I know this because there is a 25-yard-long sign that reads, "Welcome to Death Valley'' mounted below the pressbox. Those are the little touches at which LSU excels. Most schools wouldn't even put up such a name. Others would just say, "Death Valley" and leave it at that. But not LSU. Here, it's "Welcome to Death Valley." That's beautiful. It's like descending into Hell and finding a sign that reads, "Satan Invites You to Enjoy Eternal Damnation.

2008 Bama game, when we blocked their field goal to send it to overtime, the stadium was rocking. Then we lost in OT

“Usually when the opposing team does well, the crowd quiets down. All I began to hear was a chant ‘L-S-U, L-S-U.’ It got louder and louder and louder. It was the loudest I’ve ever heard a stadium.”

“I get asked about the best games I’ve called, and as far as college football goes, the Florida-LSU environment (2007) was as good as I’ve ever been around. I had always heard about night games at Tiger Stadium and had never gotten the chance to call one. It was really special to be a part of that and then the game, my gosh, how can anybody ever forget that. The fourth quarter and LSU’s final drive, that’s something I’ll always remember.”

“It was electric. When Death Valley is rocking, it seems as if it might actually take flight. On Saturday, I went back to Baton Rouge to see Alabama barely beat LSU, and was, once again, reminded that Tiger Stadium is the best place in the world to watch a sporting event. … I’m not sure what it was like to walk into the Coliseum, but I bet it was something like this.”

“It has turned the knees of All-Americans to goo. It has caused coaches to lose their coaching minds. Dark. That combined with Tiger Stadium on a Saturday night is something loud, strange and holy. There is noise in stadiums everywhere from Eugene to Tuscaloosa. Only in Baton Rouge is there a living, breathing being lurking in its grand, old stadium.”

"It's probably the only time in my life I was intimidated by the crowd." - Former ALL American and Pro Football Hall of Famer, Ronnie Lott, on LSU's game against USC in 1979 at Tiger Stadium

He also had these comments regarding the 1979 USC vs. LSU game in Tiger Stadium:

"A lot of great players have played in that stadium, but I don't know if any team has walked into that stadium and dealt with what we went through. From the time we landed to the time we left, I don't know if a team has ever gone through that."

"I haven't been in an event like that at any level of football. Out of all the games I've ever played in, I've never been in anything like that, and I am including my Super Bowls in that assessment."

2007 Florida. Gators were coming off a loss to I think Auburn. They had a bye before they played us and Meyer had never lost back to back. To top it off place was rocking the entire night and LSU had to rally when it seemed victory was not in the cards. Tebow was unstoppable that year, but LSU someone stopped him just enough.

And there's the 5 4th downs as well.

"The final score: Stanford 24 USC 23."

I was there for that. That is easily in my personal top 5 greatest TS moments. I've got goosebumps just thinking about it.

SVP on his impression of the Alabama game last year should be sent to every recruit.

“For three hours on Saturday Night, I don’t know that there has ever been an atmosphere in sports that I’ve been a part of that was as memorable to me. I have no dog in this fight. I mean look, I’ve been to games where I’ve watched Maryland win a national championship, that was very personal to me. Makes me think of my dad who left us too soon. I have nothing but being a sports fan on the line on Saturday night. And I’ve never seen something that felt like that. Or heard anything that was as sustained as that. … Everything that was part of the experience, I was told it was going to be awesome. It was better than I was told it was. … There is nothing I would put ahead of that that I’ve EVER seen in any sport. When you’re there, you don’t want to miss anything.”

That segment with SVP was awesome. I remember that. As someone said earlier, that should be used for every recruit.
