I like Kimbers, but I like that Ruger too so its a win/win

Yeah, I don't see a wrong with either...
I have shot a friends Kimber, haven't even seen a Ruger before, but it is well liked, from reading the posts here.

I have the ruger and have no complaints with it.

The main difference is gonna be that the Ruger has a cast frame and the Kimber has a forged frame (I'm pretty sure all Kimbers do).
But as far as functionality, I think both are great 1911s.
