Been fishing this spot for about 3 years now and today was my 2nd best trip. Wind was just enough to keep gnats and skeeters off me. Water wasn't prettiest but didn't matter today.

Caught 14 reds, got my limit and some throw back keepers. Caught 6 trout with one keeper. Guess they are starting to move in.

If you want to head that way, they are stacked right off the main canal going north from coco marina. I didn't do as well in the small canals and ponds. Most were in bigger water. Strike king spinner bait and live Cocahoes were successful.

I did get stuck by a hard head at about 7 but said frick it since I knew the bite was on. It's not that bad since no barbs got stuck in my finger. Also, no hoist pics cause the action was that good I didn't want to put the pole down. Overall great day of fishing.

That sounds so badass.

I dream of catching reds from a kayak. One day I would like to get down there and take a shot at it.

Just let me know, we can try to set up a trip or I can show you the way! The biggest red I caught was about 25" and I fought it for a solid 5 mins. It never gets old.

Threw a super spook first thing with no luck. Switched to spinnerbait and they were tearing it up. Eventually went to Cocahoes when that slowed down.

No grass at all that I could see.
