I bought my ps3 in college the day they came out. I hardly ever play, but decided to get madden 25 from amazon to get the free nfl Sunday ticket. After playing a couple of days I got the yellow light of death and now madden is stuck in this old arse ps3. Any ideas on how to get it out? Or fix the system without spending a ton of money

Is it the older fat model?
ETA: Okay, didn't read your post well enough.
Its usually an overheating problem. The old models get ylod very often. It is about a $60-$80 fix depending on where you go.

turn the power off using the switch on the back. hold down the eject button and turn the switch back on. it should come out

I sent mine in to a company called Endless Electronics for repair. I got it back a month or so ago and only started using it when I got Madden Thursday.....it's already YOLD'd again. I'm asking for a refund and am just going to buy a new slim.
I guess you could send the PS3 to them, have them remove the disc, and diagnose the problem for $30.

I just read online about a hair dryer trick. Heating it up through the back vents for 20 minutes with a hair dryer. Most say its a temporary fix.
And I tried holding the eject button like someone said with no luck. If I can get the game out I may just sell it and wait on the ps4.

Hair dryer trick worked. Got the game out and watching Netflix now. Probably wont put another game in it though

Hair dryer trick won't last long . I fixed mine myself. All it took was thermal paste and Heat gun. It did take some patience and it wasn't real easy. Fixed it traded it in to GameStop and bought slim.

and Heat gun.
Yea you're just basically reflowing the BGA that connects the GPU/CPU to the motherboard. A true fix would be to send it to someone with a rework station and have them reball it for you but that can cost upwards of $100 plus shipping.
