I really don't see how they seriously keep 5 RB's. You guys think they workout a trade involving Ingram? Especially with the hard running styles of Cadet and Robinson?

They CANNOT trade Ingram. He would cost us about $1 mil to trade or cut.

And we have carried 5 HBs several times under Payton. This is not a shocking thing.

The ONLY number that is shocking is 3 OLBs, but then again we have some ILBs that can fill in there.

I'm curious to see what they try to do for OLB. Keeping 5 running backs isn't really that surprising. The shortage of OLBs is however.

I agree, but again is tempered by the overall number of LBs we kept. 9-10 is what you shoot for in a 3-4 and we have 9. They kept the best 9 and that's all you can really say about it.

Maybe Ryan has been reading this board and plans on moving Harper to OLB...

Umm....

Seriously though he does play in the box a lot(Ryan very often puts the SS in the box) and Ryan does use a ton of 3-3-5(probably more than base 3-4).

So while it would technically be 3-3-5 it looks like 3-4(think of the 4th preseason game and where Leonhard was constantly lined up).

Ingram should be traded. He's at the damn Bama game now instead of workin on his terrible run skills and ball securing.

I'm waiting for the thread, but he's standing next to Julio on the sideline. Hope he shanks him.

Tigerdroppings hates Ingram.

It's borderline fricking absurd.

One of the twitter reporters said they have never carried 5 HBs under Payton. Last year, they did, but Payton wasn't there.

ETA:

@wwltvsports: Not counting '12 (bc Payton wasn't around), this is the first time the #Saints have kept 5 running backs on the roster.

Can't disagree with either statement.
