requesting OT help...

Wife is yelling at daughter about homework/schoolwork.

Should I:

A) intervene
B) mediate
C) pour another drink and watch football?

C

a- if you go with A your wife will be mad bc you don't take her side

B- if you mediate your wife will be mad bc you tried to stay neutral and made her the bad guy

C- your wife will be mad bc you did nothing.

At least with C though you get to keep drinking and watch football.

How old is the daughter? At this time of night, if it ain't done yet, they get sent to bed and told they have to get up an hour early to finish it.

D-wait till the child is not around and discuss the issue with your wife. Figure out if wife was yelling because child was not obeying instructions or if wife was simply frustrated with child. If former, proceed back to answer C. If latter, proceed to E which is for you to help with homework instead of wife. Child will not learn and will only be upset if wife is yelling just because she is frustrated.

You may want to re-examine this and the effect it may be having on her study habits.
