Once he beats Willie's total, his contract states he gets a $6,000,000 or so bonus. He negotiated a good deal.

But if the Yanks don't play him last week to save money (If out of the race), will he sue as he can't play in 2014. Thoughts?

Looks like he hit 4 in about 20 games so far this year, giving him 651 with about 30 games to go, he needs 10 more to pass Mays' 660.

He'll have to get hot, but i'd love to see that get messy for the Yankees.

Can you imagine the touchiness the last week if he gets close?

Would be epic. I wonder if that factored into the Yanks holding him out a little longer than necessary earlier this year. He'll likely come up about 4-5 HRs short of Mays.

He's gotta be swinging for the fence every time.

I never thought I'd be pulling for Arod, but in this situation I hope he fricks the Yankees so hard.

I'm not saying he shouldn't fight for it, but $6M seems like change when compared to his career earnings.

isn't like the Yankees are the Astros and money is tight. Not sure how this "fricks" them if it helps them make the playoffs and then they get some playoff revenue.

Money isn't tight down here in Houston. There just isn't anyone worth spending it on.

How is he even still playing? How long does this appeal take?

Forbes not 100% correct

Apparently Forbes is considering everything. There is a lot of debt right now ($400mil). CSN not being carried by many providers is hurting the bottom line. Though I'm hoping with Dwight Howard coming to the Rockets it will help get a deal done.

Appeal probably won't happen until playoff/offseason time is when a decision will be made I believe

He will likely finish the season, and the playoffs if they make it. There should be something in the CBA where if a player appeals a suspension, and loses, the league can add more time onto it if they so choose. In this case they should ban ARoid from the shitty sport of baseball. Then they should completely shut down MLB and stop torturing the american public.
