The coverage of the home team city paper continues to deteriorate. Increasingly it is a video blurb, just links to other publications, or polls to fill the space. Maybe it has been there before but today I noticed a new even lower low... using posts from readers and listing it as a news article. Pretty pathetic. That's all.

The guy had to write two sentences and still couldn't get the poster's name right:

Going to 3-day-a-week publication was the kiss of death. Newspapers aren't going to survive as online-only pubs. Too much free competition. I spend far more time here (yes, I'm working, boss) than I do at a news site.

Triplett and Holder are the only two really putting out any decent Saints coverage. That "Black and Gold today" show they have suffers from a very corny and stale format.

With all that said, still 1000x than anything on espn radio except for SVP.

This is not only the Picayune Blu. Its just about every paper in the nation. The money and talent is going where the money is. No one is investing resources into print until they see where the bottom is. And why would young talent go into the newspaper biz?
You should see the P'cola sports page. You couldn't wipe your rear end with it if you tried. Our local paper is now printed in Mobile Al and shipped back to Pensacola for distribution.
It will bottom out...somewhere.

Damn blues, that article was actually kinda depressing in regards to the haralson signing. By the numbers, will smith should get a yellow jacket compared to parys.

Not impressed w/ Channel 4's reporting last night -- their "analysis" of Saints' OLB depth omitted any mention of Martez Wilson, as in, he's not on the roster (?)

New Orleans has always had a terrible paper and good tv news coverage. Conversely, Baton Rouge has a great paper and terrible tv news coverage.

I really appreciate this person's creative and incorrect use of commas. I would like to see the editor who thought that this was worthy content.

quote:

Alot of Saints fans have been wanting the saints to get rid of Will Smith for awhile and I just don't understand why , Other then not being able to run after wr's are rb's , But he is really good at stopping the run and getting to the QB, Most of the fans are really excited like he is going to be the fix that the saints fans have being looking for the last few years , He's not IF he were all that people are making him out to be , The 49ers would have kept him, He wasn't going to make the team the 49ers were going to cut him , The rookie's are better then he is , Lets all look at the Black and White. the numbers don't lie.

In Trip's q&a today he once again incorrectly stated Butler counts towards our limit while on PUP.

From everything I've read neither PUP list has players counting toward your limit.

I like Trip a lot and appreciate his insight on things but you should know about the thing you are covering.

Edit:
Actually I just read something else that defines the PUP lists as active and reserve instead of preseason and regular season.

LINK /

If you are on active PUP you do count but if you are on reserve PUP you do not.

Active is for players who might return during preseason. I'm sure Butler is not on that one given the severity of the injury.

Damn you guys think every one who speaks the truth are idiots.. I been here since Jim Taylor and Doug Atkins by the way Doug is broke and living in a camper these days. Just because I say the Saints outside linebackers aren't NFL caliber im a idiot but the trade last night was a great move. He is better thenThe juniors and Wilson's. they been around for years. And we are still waiting for them to produce. They never will. Better get some more saints.

kind of off subject but Pro Football Weekly will no longer publish a draft or season preview print magazine.

I enjoyed their work, especially the draft preview.

another long running print magazine that has fallen off the radar thanks to tons of social media.
