Are you kidding? McNight has been in the NFL for several years and is such a good athlete that he has played on both sides of the ball. I don't think anyone can really say that he didn't pan out.

Just got cut by 1 of the worst teams in the NFL in the Jets.

LF is on a diff level than McKnight its not even funny. Just posting this so people will eat crow.

Lets wait until he has a great college career and gets drafted and actually plays in the NFL. The kid is a great talent but he's still a teenager.

This is true for 99% of players that go from high school to college. But, LF is in that 1% that is just special. Everyone knew that Luck, Manning, and AP were all special in high school. Everyone knows LF is special too.

I wonder if McKnight would have made the same USC decision if he had it to do again?

wasn't McKnight pretty special in hs? see how that works?

everyone knew that Shep was special too. see how that works? not comparing the two...just the hype. LF by all accounts will be a very productive and maybe the all-everything superstar mega gigantor multiple Heisman at LSU who leads us back to crystal city. he'll have a lot better chance of accomplishing that feat if one Cameron Robinson is there to lead the way. see how that works?

get better.

Sure, they were 5 * in high school. But, they were never called a once in 20 years prospect.

Man, I guess a lot of yall arent thinking the same thing I am about LF.

Actually yeah, Luck was considered special out of high school. And after his freshman year of college he was being hailed as the next John Elway. So, yea.

What was said in that thread, was that Joe was on the same level in HS. Which I agree with. Joe was an amazing back in high school. They are two different style runners. You are a fool to say Joe was not a super star at the HS level.

Joe was supposed to be the second coming of Reggie Bush, which played a big part in his decision to go out west. LF is now the second coming of Adrian Peterson. Two different style runners.

No doubt.

And speaking of Reggie Bush, maybe McKnight could do some house sitting for him in the future to support his family.

He left USC on such great terms that the opportunities in L.A. must be astounding. This is where that Broadcast Journalism degree from such a fine institution will really come in handy.

Infinitely more valuable than anything his home state could have provided him at his time of need.

I beg to differ...because Shep was called the 'quantum leap' over here in Cy-Fair.

don't get me wrong because from the film I've seen of LF he possesses rare talent. it's like the time I stood next to a young Tiger Woods on a sunday at Congressional and he proceeded to pure a six iron from a steep side hill lie just above a gaping trap in some of the gnarliest 8"rough I've ever seen to a green approx. 215 yds away....I turned to my pga card carrying buddy and said, "he is not from our solar system." capiche?

get better.

I never said Joe McKnight wasnt a star in high school. He was. Did he live up to the hype in college?? No. He wasnt bad by any means. But he wasnt great.

And what position did Shepard play in high school?? What did he play in college??

He was ranked as a top 15 player in the nation as a QB, not a WR.

I am the one that wrote that sentence you pasted up there...and I am not here to eat crow. I stand by that statement.

LF is a great athlete and may in fact be a once in 20 year player. The predictions are easy to make, but living up to that type of hype is not easy at all.

I remember the hype surrounding McKnight, and deservedly so. He was on a totally different level than any high player he ever played against. He was also a very impressive college player, and had he not been splitting carries with so many other RBs, he might have lived up to all the hype in college (which would have been almost impossible).

LF has the size and athleticism to be a workhouse RB in the NFL if he continues to develop. However, in case you haven't noticed, there are very few teams that use RBs as workhorses these days, and when they do, the average career length is not much different than McKnight's...and McKnight may get picked up by another team or two before his days are over.

You are not alone in hoping that LF will be a tiger and live up to his hype. Fortunately, I am not dumb enough to consider it a lock that he will have a better professional career than a guy that has played in the league for significantly longer than the average. Until he straps 'em up against a full team of SEC caliber players, no one will really know what his ceiling is.

You keep looking into your crystal ball, though.

Average career in NFL : 6.8 years

McKnights career so far: 3 years. And it was on special teams. We will see if someone claims him on waivers.

Its not just my crystal ball either. A lot of people feel that way about LF.

The only NOLA athlete that can compare to LF as far as expectations from such an early age is Randy Livingston. Sadly, injuries kept him from reaching his potential. I pray LF gets the opportunity to reach his.

Nope you guys were blowing ya load while a few of us(well at least me) didn't believe he was going to be all that great. I stayed out of the Shep hype because he didn't look all that special to me, now LF just looks special. He's in that mold of AP that you just knew he would be great unless he was derailed by injury.
