The Tampa Bay Buccaneers are dealing with an incredibly serious infection in their building: MRSA. As first reported by Alex Marvez of Fox Sports, Carl Nicks and Lawrence Tynes have been infected with the penicillin-resistant staph infection. According to Chris Mortensen speaking on ESPN, Carl Nicks will be out indefinitely while they treat him. If left untreated, MRSA can be career- and even life-threatening.

Yup. A Saints lineman that left for big money. Hmmm.

NO, he hurt his knee.
eta: I guess he did get a staph infection after he injured the knee and he sued the Browns saying he contracted it at their facilities.

That's some serious shite, as it travels and infects through airborne droplets.

Now that i think of it im a little worried about this for the Pats. Just had joint practices this week and weve had a couple "undisclosed" injuries

Dunno why that came out all caps

Believe it or not, most people contract staph infections in their noses. They pick their noses and touch doorknobs, shake hands, use a pen, etc. Sucks

It can be life-threatening, but usually only if you keep taking antibiotics. If you don't kill it, it becomes resistant. It's incredible. It's only been around for half a century, I think. You've got to be careful.
Interesting fact: alligators and crocodiles can fight it off in under 24 hours.
