I was curious on y'all's opening weekend activity...How many members show up for opening day of bow season?

How about gun season?

Do y'all have many bucks taken then or do most wait it out?

For us (7 members), our big day is gun season opening weekend when we all show up and only one or two take a buck. After that, we rarely have more than two members hunting at the same time.

Back when we had a lease, people hardly bow hunted so it was mainly gun season opener when everyone showed up (10 people).

BTW, Where you reside in the ATL area? About to head that way.

The majority don't discriminate between any openers. They show up, cook, get drunk, and sleep till 10 or 11 then start watching football and do a replay of the above. Very few of us get up before daylight and hunt. I love it.

I used to do that back in college when I could go a week at the camp, but I can't handle/justify that lifestyle over the short weekend. I'd be miserable Monday.

Maybe when I retire

There are only 4 of us that bow hunt. It's by far the best time to be in the woods. 2500 acres with no traffic on the roads and no ATVs in the woods. Usually we don't kill more than 1 buck. All of the guys that bow hunt let young bucks walk. On average we kill 5 or so doe before any gun seasons open.

Opening day of muzzleloading season will have 12-15 there. We kill 2-3 bucks during that weekend.

Opening day of gun season there will be 20 or so. That's when the if its brown its down guys show up. Thankfully they usually only hunt opening weekend. It's not too unusual for us to kill 8-10 bucks opening weekend of modern gun.

We hardly have any bow hunters. If I had to guess, out of 17 members, maybe 5 bowhunters. Never heard of a 3.5 or older buck being taken until the rut kicks in the second weekend of December.

Sounds like an old club I was part of. Spikes unfortunately stood no chance.

We have 30 or so members. We usually have 15 people (members, kids, guests) opening of gun season. If bucks show up we shoot them.

Opening day of dog season is when we have most people. 25 to as many as 40. We cook and have a good time.

We're waaaay back in a nasty swamp, so people don't "wait" to shoot bucks. Some people go a couple of years between buck sightings. Whether its opening day or the last day, most members are letting the lead fly.

I'm the only one that hunts one of my leases (~1,000 ac) during bow season. My old man will go up with me, but he doesn't hunt. He just scouts. He won't hunt until it's below 60 degrees. I usually bring one or two of the kids and let them build fires, eat honeybuns, and shoot BB guns with their grandfather while I hunt. Everyone wins. There's an occasion when one other member bowhunts, but he's retired and usually just goes up during the week for a day or so. Opening day of rifle season we'll usually have a full house (6 hunters).

About 10 billion yahoo's racing down the roads at 4 am, then racing down every trail imaginable on ATV's/racing down canals on boats, then walking right under your stand/riding through your decoys until about 9 am, Then trying to fight you "'cause my powpow hunted that tree/blind 10,000 years ago so it's now mine.", then shooting anything that twitches and has something that looks like fur or feathers, then getting their ATV and dragging said creature out right under your stand/blind

I need to get a lease and get off these WMA's
