Hello all!

I'm fairly new to Baton Rouge and brand new to TigerDroppings, and I can say that I love both already! I also love fishing, any and all, but since I moved here (now broke college student btw), I've taken a stronger interest in bank bass fishing. I've had luck, but it seems to come and go.

Anyways, I'm not trying to pry you all for your spots, but I was wondering if anyone knows anything about the states policy on stocking ponds/lakes? As in, some of the nicer kept ponds located by several apartment complexes near LSU's campus (not necessarily the lakes, which I've been fishing). The Cottages is a complex with some nice ponds, just to give an example.

Also, I've just gotten into plastics (used spinner baits my whole life), and mainly fishing them with jigs while using them as a trailer. Sometimes it's good, but it's been bad recently. So, any good tips on good bank fishing techniques (lures, presentation, etc.) would be appreciated as well!

Thanks

Walden Park on Kenilworth just south of Perkins/Kenilworth intersection has a few fishin' ponds. There's also a pond in the Perkins Road High Adventure Park just about a 1/10th of a mile from there. There's bass in the former, only have seen bream in the latter.

You'll need a license.

Don't expect to catch anything big in these ponds. Keep your lure small too. Light at night, dark in the day. Bass strike at anything.

The larger the hook the better to avoid bream.

I like to use the smallest plastics I can find.

LSU lake are supposed to have nice bass. I know ive caught some decent bass on the lakes in fairhill and springlake subdivisions off of bluebonnett. as far as the aprtment lakes only thing i ever did in them was piss, puke, and catch bull frogs. thats some nasty sh*t in most of em. seen nutria, coons, possum, and other unidentified sh*t species in there. threw a couple guys/ girls in there before too.

Riding by the lakes today i noticed they have lily pads that look like you could walk on they are so big. They cant be natural to our area.

I know! I've caught my last few on a Senko! I'm still dumbfounded at how those simple, big, ugly lookin pieces of rubber get so much action!
