Looking at buying a few dove decoys this year...wondering how you guys use them?

Thinking of buying 4-5 of just the ones you put along a fence line or in a tree and maybe a mojo or two.

If you guys use them what do you use and how do you set them up?

2 mojos.

I set them up about 20 yards in front of me, and it's like a magnet.

I have some of the clip ons, but I don't fool with them any more.

We use these and the doves will almost come and land on top of them most of the time

Yep for some reason if...

1 mojo=20% come and look factor

then,

2 mojo=85% come and look if not sit down factor

Mojo's work great. I usually have one out in the field and one hoisted up to a powerline with some 30lb test Stren.

mojos do work.. IF places right. you can also have too many in the field. if you have them in wrong spot then they will come in too low

Yea, they can be dangerous. I don't like to see kids or rookies using them in close quarters..

Yep. Hunting near a powerline:

Get some heavy fishing line and tie one end to a stick. Toss the stick over the top powerline. Attach the other end of your fishing line to the mojo. Hoist the mojo up to were it hovering over the bottom powerline. Tie off the end with the stick on it and profit. You can also add to your spread by hoisting a few regular dekes up there..

So what is considered a wrong spot? I am new to hunting doves with decoys so looking for some insight.

Just don't put them in between yourself and other hunters that are within shooting range of you.

We did that last year with a mojo mallard in the timber. Guy I hunt with is an arborist, he got a weight bag they use for tree branches an tied it to some cord with the decoy on the other end. Slung it up high and hoisted the mojo right under the canopy.

Anyways, doves...I used to cut the side out of a water bottle to make the body/tail profile, spray paint inside grey, hot glue a clothespin to the bottom and clip them to the fences and stuff.

I bought one of the trees made for the mojos. Only running two mojos and the rest of the holes are filled with the regular decoys. If anybody hunts beside me I have to tell them to DONT SHOOT THE MOJO!!!

It happens anyway most of the time.

I saw a dove try to lite on a mojo and get knocked out cold by the spinning wing. They work.

So when you set up your mojos to point them in any certain direction? Away from you coming to you...into the wind?
